So how about that big game, huh? I got to admit, the only thing that kept me going through what was a mostly unspectacular game was the promise of movie and TV show teasers. While we got some fun little clips that promise how amazing Avengers:Endgame and Captain Marvel will be, they deliberately only showed us what we already know. The real surprise was when we got our first teaser at Jordan Peele’s new Twilight Zone for CBS All Access. The teaser ad gave us our first look at the tone of the show and how it looks like it…

I am an extremely lazy person by nature which makes me a huge target for all the latest smart technology. I am totally willing to surrender myself to a surveillance state if it means I can ask Alexa or Siri on my refrigerator to turn on the lights or change the channel. My ideal world would involve being able to sit in my own filth while tiny drones drop vienna sausages directly into my mouth. However, we still have a long ways away to getting to that point since a lot of this stuff is still in its infancy. Most…

Actress/Writer Rachel True has recently been speaking out on social media about how she is feeling ignored by conventions that are celebrating the 90’s cult film The Craft. While the film was a modest hit back in 1996, it was a defining movie for a lot of kids who got their first exposure to witchcraft and how cool dressing in all black is. As part of the recent wave of 90’s nostalgia, conventions and fan events have been holding reunions and celebrations for movies and tv shows of the day. Which makes it so disappointing to hear that the reunion…

Being a long time Nintendo fan has its difficulties. Premium prices for games, a bare bones online service, and a stubborn refusal to make a new Pokemon Snap has been particularly hard. But the hardest one to endure is also what makes them special, their stubborn perfectionism  when it comes to their top franchises. Older gamers know the struggle that comes from waiting years for a new Zelda or Mario game, often having to wait for a new console entirely. Their Metroid Prime series has been hit particularly hard by their release schedule, with the popular series having not had…

It feels like there is no beloved show from the past is safe from getting resurrected. Our nostalgia infused world finds comfort in the familiar and will happily revisit shows like Fuller House that reminds us of the past. Netflix has gained a ton of success by banking on that nostalgia with shows that either reminisce about the past or simply emulate them wholesale. One of their most popular shows, Stranger Things, is basically a giant celebration of the 80s with references galore. It’s from that show that we are getting a reboot of another relic from the 20th century,…

I thought we were over this but I can’t say we weren’t warned. Earlier this week we learned that Jason Reitman has been actively developing a new Ghostbusters movie for Sony Pictures. Unlike the all female reboot in 2016 which reset their origins to the present day, this new film will be a direct follow up to the original two movies. We then immediately got a teaser trailer that showed the original Ecto-1 car to show they are not messing around here. The speed of the this news seems to be a reaction to how long it takes for a…

Man, EA sure can’t catch a break when it comes to Star Wars games. When the studio picked up the license to develop games based on the franchise in 2014 their track record on games based on the franchise has been, well, less than great. Their reboot of the Battlefront series has had more lows than highs with disappointing sales and a botched implementation of microtransactions. Since then, we have only heard seen glimpses to other games coming from the studio which then end up being delayed or completely retooled. Big name talent like Amy Hennig were hired to develop…

The film adaptation of Uncharted has come back into the news with the announcement of Dan Trachtenberg being named its new director. Trachtenberg will take over for the film which has long been in development hell from previous director Shawn Levy. He will helm the film that is set to star Tom Holland as a younger version of Nathan Drake as he becomes the famous treasure hunter. The Uncharted series has been begging for a film version since its arrival in 2007 since it practically plays like an interactive movie. We still will have to wait for the movie to…

The nerd gods giveth and taketh away in equal measure. At the same time that we get a ton of news on the future of Star Trek on television, there comes news that the next Trek movie has been cancelled. The film was slated to be directed by S.J. Clarkson, but had faced a troubled pre-production over salary negotiations for actors Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth. We then received news that Clarkson had been given the job of directing the pilot to the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel series for HBO. The move seems to support the fact that Paramount…

We now have more details about the story of the new Picard centric Star Trek series that will premiere on CBS All-Access later this year. Executive producer Alex Kurtzman revealed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter where and how this show will fit in the larger Trek timeline. Kurtzman dropped the hint as part of a larger article that will come out on Wednesday that “Picard’s life was radically altered by the dissolution of the Romulan Empire.” This would place the show after Spock’s failed attempt to save Romulus from destruction by a supernova. The collapse of one of…
