I am still waiting for that blue police box to take me on a star trek to a galaxy far, far away. Until then I will have to content myself with fantasy and sci-fi adventures from books, movies, and TV shows.

Since the Disney-Fox deal closed there has been speculation about how and when some of the Fox characters would be worked into the MCU. In particular, Ryan Reynold’s fan-favorite Deadpool. While the X-men and Fantastic Four will most likely be recast and rebooted, Reynold’s will probably continue to portray Deadpool. But the Deadpool franchise is notable for its R-rated movies. There was some concern that the character would be toned down to be more family-friendly for Disney. But it seems that will not be the case and Disney will keep the franchise R-rated. However, the Merc with a Mouth will…

We have gotten our first tiny glimpse of the Loki TV series for Disney+ with the release of the official logo and a piece of concept art for the series. Fans of the character were disappointed when Loki was killed by Thanos at the beginning of Infinity War and with the Titan’s cryptic comment that there would be no more resurrections. However, the writers managed to work around that in Endgame when during the time-travel shenanigans of the Time Heist a Loki from the time of the Battle of New York in the original Avengers movie was able to escape…

In the lead-up to Endgame, speculation was rife among fans as to how the Avengers would defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) given their abject failure in Infinity War. One of the most popular (if not the most plausible) theories involved Ant-Man (Paul Rudd). The theory was that Ant-Man at ant size would crawl up Thanos’ butt and then grow to giant size, effectively exploding Thanos from the inside. This theory became known as the “Thanus” theory. Well, Ant-Man did play a key role in the Avengers’ ultimate victory in Endgame, just not in this particular way (thank heavens). And it is…

We are finally seeing some progress on the Shazam! spinoff movie Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson. Considering the success of Shazam! (and most any movie starring Johnson) it is surprising that things haven’t moved faster. A sequel to Shazam! is already in the works. Whether that sequel might include an appearance by Johnson’s Black Adam is anyone’s guess. Black Adam was initially talked about as the main villain for Shazam! but it was felt that the character would be better served by a stand-alone movie. Johnson briefly mentioned the Black Adam movie in an Instagram post when he thanked fans…

If you are a space enthusiast or if you just like looking up at the night sky, June has some exciting viewing experiences for you. During the month of June, the planet Jupiter will be at its “biggest and brightest” and will be visible with the naked eye throughout the night. NASA officials state that “The solar system’s largest planet is a brilliant jewel to the naked eye, but looks fantastic through binoculars or a small telescope, which will allow you to spot the four largest moons, and maybe even glimpse a hint of the banded clouds that encircle the…

Disney has had varying success with movies based on its theme park rides. Pirates of the Caribbean ride was the inspiration for a 5 movie franchise that has led to a total combined box office of $4.56 billion. Movies based on the Country Bear Jamboree, the Haunted Mansion, and Tomorrowland were less successful. The latest movie based on an attraction is Jungle Cruise. And it may have a secret weapon to help it be successful: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He is joined by Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Paul Giamatti, Jesse Plemons, and Edgar Ramirez. Details of the movie…

I loved to watch Godzilla movies on TV when I was a kid. I thought the rubber suit with its bulgy eyes and snarly grin was awesome. I liked watching him fight with other monsters or robots or aliens or whatever that smog monster-thing was and destroy Tokyo in the process. So what I wanted from Godzilla: King of the Monsters was basically the same thing: monsters fighting monsters, monsters smashing buildings, monsters crushing cars, etc. Basically, monsters being big, destructive monsters. Maybe some plot and characterization as well, but mostly monsters. And King of the Monsters delivers that. As…

Production on Bond 25 has experienced yet more bad luck. A series of 3 on-set explosions at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire has caused some damage to the set and injured one crew member. The explosion grew beyond the control of the pyrotechnics crew that was supervising it. The crew was testing a stunt in which a fireball rips through a laboratory when the explosions occurred. A source told The Sun: “There were three loud explosions, one after another, and a member of the crew was lying on the floor outside the building injured.” The explosion is reported to have blown…
