Warner Bros. has just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming supernatural love story, Remain. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by the same name, co-written by M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks. Shyamalan will be re-entering his wheelhouse to write and direct the feature adaptation.

Remain tells the story of a reclusive architect, Tate Gordon (Jake Gyllenhaal), who moves to a small coastal town in Cape Cod to finish his latest project. While there, he meets a young woman named Wren (Phoebe Dynevor). While she does bring a lot of joy and companionship into his life, she also drags him into a deadly mystery that hangs over the town. To save the woman he loves, he must figure out her past before time runs out.
In the teaser, we see the happy couple play board games, seemingly having a great time. Things take a turn when Wren asks why they can’t be together, and Tate says, “You know why.” Later, we see Tate wake up to a seemingly disoriented Wren in his bathroom, but when he flips on the light, she is nowhere to be seen.
Gyllenhaal and Dynevor star alongside Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders. Shyamalan is also producing the project with Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Theresa Park. Sparks is executive producing.
Not Your Typical Adaptation
“The novel is not a novelization, and the film is not an adaptation. It’s two storytellers telling the story of Remain in their own way,” Shyamalan explains about Remain. “Together, we created the story of recluse architect Tate Gordon, who moves to a small coastal town to complete his latest project when he encounters a beguiling young woman who pulls him out of his shell and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over this town.”
Remain is currently set to hit theaters on February 5, 2027. You can watch the teaser below:
