Shooting for the new Candyman movie from Jordon Peele should begin in Chicago, Illinois on August 20 and run through September 20. The new movie is said to be a “spiritual sequel” to the original 1992 film. Peele and his MonkeyPaw partner Win Rosenfield are writing and producing the new film. Nia DaCosta is directing. The plot of the new film revolves around an artist named Anthony. Strange killings start to happen when Anthony looks into the urban legend of the Candyman. Rumors are swirling around Idris Elba’s character in Suicide Squad 2: The Suicide Squad again. Initially, it was rumored that Elba would replace Will Smith as Deadshot. That rumor was debunked leaving a big question as to who Elba would play in the movie. Now we have a new possible role for Elba: Bronze Tiger. Before the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters in theaters, a sequel was already in the works. While King of the Monsters debuted at number 1 on its opening weekend, beating Disney’s Alladin and the newly released Elton John biopic Rocketman, its box office lagged behind those of previous MonsterVerse films: $93 million for Godzilla (2014) and $61 million for Kong: Skull Island (2017) But Godzilla vs Kong, the matchup between the MonsterVerse stars, is definitely coming regardless of the performance of King of the Monsters. It has had a troubled history, but things finally seemed to be moving along for the Masters of the Universe reboot. It has directors in Adam and Aaron Nee, a script from Matt Holloway and Art Markum, and it has its Prince Adam in Noah Centineo. Principal photography is set to begin sometime in July in Prague. The release date was pushed back to 2020 and then again to March 5, 2021. Now Sony has released a teaser poster (more like a logo) at Licensing Expo 2019. Toy Story 4 is coming out this month and will wrap up that franchise. But Pixar has more movies waiting in the wings. They have just released a trailer for their upcoming film Onward. The film is a suburban fantasy and will tell the story of two elf brothers, Barley and Ian Lightfoot, who go on a quest to see if there is still magic left in their world. Up to now, we have been teased with images from the upcoming The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series. The series will be 10 hour long episodes that will serve as a prequel to the movie The Dark Crystal (1982). It will premiere on Netflix on August 30.
