For anyone in the movie business, the rewrite is a common occurrence. Happens all the time. There’s rarely a screenplay floating around Hollywood that hasn’t been rewritten over and over again. If you’re not an industry type, the word “rewrite” may have a whole different connotation. It might signal chaos, or a substandard product in dire need of improvement. For fans of the DCEU, or any recent DC project lately, a script undergoing several rewrites is the last thing we want to hear. My mind immediately goes to the Justice League. Warner Brothers spent millions trying to pump new life…

Do you remember that movie The Lost Boys? Not Peter Pan’s band of merry men… I’m talking Corey Feldman, a non-Jack Bauer Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, the dude from Speed 2: Cruise Control, even Bill S. Preston Esq. himself Alex Winter was in this damn movie. Thirty years ago, people, not just vampires dressed like this. A true classic of the Teen-Horror subgenre. Just like Heathers, Riverdale, Scream, there’s a hot trend of taking these films that came out in the 1980’s and 90’s then giving them a new life on the small screen. While The Lost Boys hasn’t gotten…
I’ll tell you as of right now, Weezer’s cover of Toto’s Africa is drastically overplayed. A phenomenal rendition of the song but I’m kinda on my last hurrah with the It’s Been A While of 2018. Despite radio’s goal to make sure we hear Weezer’ Africa three times an hour, it’s a great cover, one I feel history may remember as “as good as the original”. The song came on the radio last week, no surprise, and it had got me thinking about exactly Weezer stayed true to the original, all while making it their own. A synthesizer during the…
I keep forgetting Blade is a comic book character, let alone one that has amassed a huge cult following over the last going on twenty one years now. The films are more popular now than they were back when N’Sync dominated the Billboard charts. And thanks to social media, there has been a call for Passenger 57 himself Wesley Snipes to reprise his role as the feared vampire hunter. Personally I believe Wesley Snipes playing Blade again has sort of become a folklore so to speak. The topic seems to enter the zeitgeist every now and then with the usual…
For as excited I am about Shazam!, I keep forgetting it’s coming out in just over two months. The David F. Sandberg directed project has been kinda flying under the radar compared to the marketing strategies of previous DCEU films. Which might be the right decision as Aquaman was good, but it didn’t level critics the way Wonder Woman did. After three clunkers, audiences are still trying to figure out if there’s room for a non-Marvel superhero franchise in their lives. So a low key, “let the final product speak for itself” approach to advertising Shazam! could become an advantage…
Los Angeles… even when I’m pulling my hair out because there’s a half hour wait at Del Taco on a Tuesday, at 2:00 pm, you’re still one of the most beautiful places the world has ever seen. But seriously though, after leaving Cleveland for the City Of Angels my life has encountered a brand new batch of challenges and pleasantries. Believe me, the assimilation process has been interesting to say the least but I’m starting to find my groove. Actually, I plan on starting some kind of guide for Southern California Transplants who need to jump start their new lives…
The Summer movie season is kinda almost upon us and of course Marvel is primed to have another phenomenal year. We all know Avengers: EndGame is the Belle of the ball, but what happens after the camera fades to black? Believe me, there are many theories as to where the MCU goes once Thanos has been defeated. And in the months ahead our Twitter feeds are going to be filled with them. Now here’s the beautiful thing about fan theories, they make for some real solid food for thought. Even if they are way far out there, these people who…
It’s time for a Ghostbusters reboot… again. Yes everyone you’ve read that correctly, another Ghostbusters movie is in development. Even though the franchise was rebooted with a core female than three years ago, Hollywood has decided New York’s finest paranormal exterminators are due for a new life on the big screen. So what’s the hook? Believe me there is one as EW.com reported on January 15th that while rumors of the plot are practically non-existent, the story supposedly takes place three decades after Zuul attempted to destroy the city. And to top it off, Jason Reitman is set to co-write…
If you think Avengers: End Game will be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’re gravely mistaken. Disney can keep making these movies as long as the camera exists. Now aside from headliners like Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Thor, the MCU is going to need to bring more characters into the limelight if it intends on being dominate at the box office for another ten years. We could get a fresh crop of new heroes like Namor (the underwater thing is hot right now) or a whole squad of X-Men. Maybe Kevin Feige will call up more of his…
I remember going on IMDB like ten years ago and seeing that Peter Jackson was slated to direct a big screen adaptation of the monumental video game series Halo. Over the last decade a Halo movie has been the Chinese Democracy of the industry. A project ripe for the making, a built-in audience of millions, a story so deep it practically screams Hollywood franchise. However, the production faced several obstacles and never got off the ground. Don’t worry all you Master Chief John-117 fanatics, Showtime is now developing Halo as a television show. And let’s be honest, it’s the better…
