Well… it’s been over a year now. It’s crazy to think that while you’re living it, time seems to go by so slow. But when you look back on it, time seems to be something that went by so fast. I say this because over three-hundred sixty-five days ago I started coverage of DC’s Doomsday Clock and honestly, it feels like I just read the inaugural installment three weeks ago. So for everyone who has stuck through the series or have been reading the commentary I provide here at Nerdbot, thank you. Seriously, thank you. Okay, we’ve got…

The African-American Film Critics Association, the most prominent organization of black film critics kicked off the upcoming awards season by revealing their list of the year’s best in the industry. The Hollywood Reporter well, reported on December 11th that Marvel’s Black Panther took home the highest honor of Best Film. As we all know, the film was an incredible success so bringing home only one award was not going to happen. Director Ryan Coogler also topped the auteur category, while Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s collaboration “All The Stars” on the Black Panther soundtrack took home the Best Song. “Selecting Disney’s…

Time to get out the tissues and your Thursday records because we’re getting emo up in here! Believe me, I’d love to do a ten thousand word article highlighting some of the greatest works to come out of the punk rock sub-genre but today we’re here to discuss another figure in emo culture who is ripe to re-enter the limelight… Emo Peter Parker. On December 4th, Comicbook.com reported that Toby McGuire was considered to lend his voice to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse… or as I call it; Flashpoint Spider-Man.  Though nothing ever came to fruition, McGuire would have played an older Peter…

It happened… Marvel dropped the highly anticipated trailer for Avengers: EndGame.   Before we begin our discussion I recommend you checking it out. If you’ve already seen it two hundred times, one more can’t hurt. Alright, so it’s good. However the trailer didn’t totally blow me away, and that’s exactly what was supposed to happen. Marvel’s got us wrapped around their finger. I’ll be the first to admit that I am at the behest of Kevin Feige, remember I’m a DC guy a heart. Insert joke here. The preview could be three minutes of Thor eating Burger King, I’ll watch. …

It’s pretty obvious from the title of this article that I just watched Sorry To Bother You on Hulu and I feel now is as good of time as ever to revisit the once rumored casting of Armie Hammer as Batman. Believe it or not, the saga of Bat-Hammer goes all the way back to 2008 when our dude Armie was up for the role of the Dark Knight in Justice League: Mortal.  No, not another DC animated feature, but the title of a superhero ensemble film which never came to fruition.  What makes the story even more interesting is…

If you don’t care about Monday Night Football this week, and believe me I don’t blame you, the powers that be at Disney gave us another reason to watch in the form of a brand spanking new Captain Marvel trailer. Check it out below!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJO4LPkcadM The day Marvel makes a bad movie is the day I’m worth forty million dollars.  Not going to happen anytime soon. On top of all the action, special effects, explosions, brief clips of fight scenes, and of course, a CGI Samuel L. Jackson who looks way better than actual young Samuel L. Jackson, this trailer…

It seems like for every movie that gets made, there must be one thousand that don’t.  If you think the struggle for getting a screenplay into production is specifically assigned to the unknown writers… you’re mistaken.  Even Hollywood superpowers feel the burn of the industry and find themselves with a stable of unproduced material. Take Academy Award Winning Director Guillermo del Toro for example.  Dude’s film The Shape Of Water grabbed two Oscars including Best Picture and on November 26th he took to Twitter revealing a hefty batch of completed scripts that have yet to hit a theater near you. Following the…

If you were to ask me if I ever thought they would make a sequel to Blade Runner… ten times out of ten, the answer was no. Then 2017 brought us Blade Runner 2049. After that I was like “great movie, but we won’t see anything Blade Runner related for a while”.  Turns out I was wrong, again. On November 29th, Pitchfork.com reported that the Blade Runner franchise (yes, it’s a franchise now) will cross over from the big screen to the small screen, finding a home on the Cartoon Network of all places.  Shinichiro Watanabe, who is the brain…

Until I see a trailer for the final season of Game Of Thrones, HBO’s new Watchmen show has my undivided attention. The month of November has been rather eventful when it comes to developments in the project.  Tim Blake Nelson revealed he would be playing a non-original Watchmen character named “Looking Glass”.  Next, Jeremy Irons got cast as Ozymandias.  A juicy little nugget we’ll discuss momentarily.  Then, right before the holiday weekend, another round of yellow masked police officers photos dropped via the show’s Instagram page. Check them out below!! Just like an episode of Lost… every time you get some insight,…

When it comes to art… yeah it’s cool to go to museums and stuff, however for some reason 15th Century paintings of people eating fruit will never be able to hold my attention the way “pop” art can.  I don’t know what that says about myself specifically but it’s Warhol over Rembrandt eight days a week. When you look up pop art, the internet provides the following definition; “art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values”.  Thank you Google.  Since the invention of Instagram, the art game…
