https://youtu.be/9g5knnlF7Zo Aladdin has left animation and entered a whole new world. The first trailer for Disney’s live-action remake arrived Thursday, giving the first glimpse of the update from the 1992 animated hit that earned more than $504 million globally. The trailer, which honestly still looks animated because of its intense CG treatment, teases the Cave of Wonders talking about the Diamond in the Rough. Iago is flying around the desert at night, which makes me hope they gave the role back to Gilbert Gottfried. If I can’t have Robin Williams, gimme the Gottfried. The Cave of Wonders is still voiced by…

Nerdbot would like to thank Tokyo Pop for providing us with a review copy of ‘Sword Princess Amaltea’ Vol. 1 by Natalia Batista.  I was completely sold by the cover and title of ‘Sword Princess Amaltea’ alone. The tough young woman with the challenging, Utena-esque gaze really did me correct and I was very eager to dive face first right into the story. Which, if I may add, is written and drawn by a Swedish female manga artist. I’ll reiterate that I love the push that Tokyo Pop has on female artists who are not solely from Japan. It’s…

Hear that, Shinji Ikari? Now when you “Mustn’t run away” you will be doing it in style with these amazing ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ line of shoes. Heck yes, I think I’m the first person on the internet to make that joke. Another score for Nerdbot’s resident Oldtaku. According to reports, the shoes will be called FIRST IMPACT, SECOND IMPACT, and THIRD IMPACT. They are expected to go live in Japan on October 12. At this point, there is no word on whether the Evangelion shoes will be sold internationally, but fans are keeping their fingers crossed. Fans can go ahead…

Next year, Disney classic Aladdin will become one of several animated films to receive a live-action remake, with Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritche helming the film. Among those in cast will be Will Smith as the Genie, who will have a hell of a time reaching the majestic heights of perfection put in place by the late Robin Williams. But at least Will Smith has the magic of social media to help “break the internet”, as the kids like to call it, by unveiling the first poster for the film. Eat it up, my Disney loves. This is the singular image that is causing…

The Verge reports that Sony is finally letting PlayStation users change their PSN IDs. The long-awaited feature is launching in beta soon for members of the PlayStation Preview Program, with a full rollout for all users planned for 2019. The feature is simple: it will finally make it possible for you to fix the mistakes of a colorful youth by choosing PSN IDs like “xXx_360noskopeSlayerz_xXx” in favor of more normal names (or vice versa, if that’s how you roll) without losing your entire account and friends list. Users who decide to change their IDs will have the option to display their…

They won’t call it PlayStation 5 right now, but Sony has finally confirmed that, yes, it has another console on the way, as stated in a report from IGN. Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said “At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have a next-generation hardware”. Yoshida wouldn’t commit to a name, or explain what form that hardware would take. It’s inevitable to hear about next gen consoles eventually at this point in the game, especially because multiple games have already been announced for next-gen consoles. However, Sony openly admitting that it is working on hardware has led…
