Author: Heath Andrews

Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies.

Every family has their own traditions around the holidays. When the 4th of July comes around, some do picnics, some stay at home and barbecue. Some families watch fireworks displays, others watch 13 different vehicles get jettisoned off a cliffside. What? Is the latter of those not your preferred festivity come Independence Day? Then clearly you must not be a resident of Glacier View, Alaska. Glacier View is home to the aptly named Glacier View River Retreat. This campground area currently only has one review on Google as of this writing, but at least it’s a 5-star review. Something tells…

Oh Armie Hammer, there are few careers in Hollywood that have the ups and downs that his had. From “The Lone Ranger” to “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” it’s been a strange journey. Achieving praise for “Call Me by Your Name” followed by everything crashing down due to reports of emotionally manipulative behavior, abuse, and cannibal fantasies. Yes, this story has it all. But where is Hammer now? We sort of know the answer to that, and it can be summed up in one phrase- Cayman Island timeshares. Armie Hammer is no stranger to the Cayman Islands, having lived there with…

The fourth season of “Stranger Things” has no shortage of news coverage for various reasons. Chief among them the surge in popularity of Kate Bush from the use of her song, “Running Up That Hill (Deal With God.).” Beyond that, social media was abuzz with whether or not certain characters were going to survive to see a season 5. If you were on Twitter the evening the final 2-part season ender dropped, you would’ve been awash in tweets, heavily concerned about Steve Harrington (Joe Kerry). And while we won’t go into spoilers about who lives or dies, Eleven herself (Millie…

How much would you pay for a complete dinosaur skeleton? That’s probably not a question you’ve ever been asked, right? In life though, there’s a time for everything and when it comes to a dinosaur auction, that time is nigh. This July a very rare and very old (obviously) dinosaur fossil is going to be auctioned off by Sotheby’s in New York City. The fossilized dinosaur skeleton is that of a Gorgosaurus. These apex predators were in the Tyrannosauridae family and were native to the present day United States and Canada. As a matter of fact, this particular skeleton was…

Remember when we showed you that proposed airline seating prototype created by Alejandro Nuñez Vicente? The…’unique design’ featured an elevated level of seats, designed to give taller individuals more leg room, with a double decker style. It’s a bit easier to understand when you see the picture. When media outlets started picking up the story, the reactions were not exactly popular. [Thanks, we hate it.] Designer Vicente has been firing back at those critics. “You cannot judge a three-year project by an article,” Vicente said. He also claimed the angles in photographs do “not do justice to the design,” making…

Live-action Superman tv series “Smallville” embraced the motto of “no tights, no flights.” Across 10 seasons split evenly between The WB network and The CW, we watched a teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling) face-off against his friend and adversary, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). Well, not across all 10 seasons, there were some where Lex wasn’t around…it’s a long story. The point is, “Smallville” has a legacy of being one of the longest running adaptations of Superman outside of the comics. Even though the series ended in 2011, the legacy lives on in being a template for what The CW programming…

After quite a bit of teasing and plot hints, we finally have more to discuss about “Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.” Many of us at Nerdbot are die-hard TMNT fans, and have been mourning the absence of our heroes in a half-shell content over the last couple years. With the fantastic “Shredder’s Revenge” game, the Cowabunga Collection on the way, and now the trailer for the latest TMNT film, we have some reason to be happy for Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello. We’ve known for a bit now that “Rise of the TMNT: The Movie” was coming.…

Oh “Frasier,” how we love thee here at Nerdbot. Stop us if you’ve heard this before but we have kind of a thing for the beloved sitcom. So much so that one staff writer has been running “The Frasier Analysis” podcast for the better part of five years. We were obviously very excited for the “Frasier” revival news. While promoting an upcoming talkshow appearance, “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer teased the revival. The first topic they discuss is the “key” to the success of the show. Grammer says the key is Frasier himself. Now, to mix a little bit of commentary…

Misinformation can quickly spread across the internet. There’s also the problem of misleading headlines that can sometimes inaccurately sum up a story to make it appear more attractive. When you combine this with people’s tendency to glance at headlines without reading an article, misinformation can spread even quicker. One of the latest examples of this comes from a recent story making headlines about a Nintendo fan. This person supposedly spent over $40,000 in stock in order to “ask Nintendo executives about making a new F-Zero game.” Let’s take a look at the headline that ran on Kotaku on June 30th,…
