Pixar’s latest film “Turning Red” will now be releasing on Disney+. Originally intended as a theatrical release, the studio announced today that they’ll be moving it onto their digital platform. This is the third Pixar film in a row to see a release via Disney+. Starting with “Soul” in 2020 and “Luca” in 2021. As sad as we are not to see this film get a theatrical release (it seems TBD if it will play simultaneously), we applaud the decision to prioritize getting great content out to as wide an audience as possible. Designer Nick Acosta has created a Life Day blessing for us all by giving “The Star Wars Holiday Special” a 4K trailer treatment. We didn’t think the special could get any more spectacular, but here we are. In the spirit of Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary “Get Back,” this trailer gives us a glimpse at familiar figures with new clarity. According to Acosta, this was done using a machine-learning program called Topaz Video Enhance AI. He is working on doing the entire special.
