Sony Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3 grossed $2.6 million in previews that began at 5 PM last night, towering over Universal/Legendary Entertainment’s Skyscraper which minted $1.95M at 2,950 theaters from showtimes that kicked off at 7 PM. Industry estimates expect Skyscraper to arrive between $33M-$40M behind Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, which is eyeing between $38M to the low $40Ms for a No. 1 win. This may not seem like a big surprise or something news worthy to some people out there. But in the world of summer blockbusters and Dwayne Johnson instant star power, it is. Especially since this is the third film in the Hotel Transylvania  franchise. However, the self-aware action movie Skyscraper has a pivotal moment that…

Being a kid was great. Everything was fresh, new, careful, and innocent. That said, a lot of things (in retrospect) were also quite stupid and embarrassing. Especially the music we listened to. When I was a kid, I had this weird hi-fi stereo in my room where I blasted cassette tapes and CDs day and night. But my taste in music was supreme in the Land of Cringe, and today, this one is going out to the 90s Kids. Below are the 5 most embarrassing soundtracks that existed in the 90s that I just couldn’t get enough of. And you…

The anticipated third season of Netflix’s smash hit Stranger Things is “definitely going to get darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love,” executive producer and director Shawn Levy said Thursday after the series received 12 Emmy nominations. “It’s got so much heart and humor.” Deadline reports more quotes from the series writer. Describing Season 1 as “very Stephen King-y” while Season 2 was “more Spielberg-y,” Harbour added: “We’re experimenting a lot this season, and we’re taking risks, and I hope that they pay off but they are risks. We’re going into territories we’ve never been to before, and it’s exciting.” Season…

Time Magazine Reports that actor Henry Cavill issued an apology for saying he is afraid of flirting with women because he is “going to be called a rapist or something.” The 35-year old actor drew criticism for his comments about the #MeToo movement in an interview with GQ Australia and how he prefers a “traditional” approach to dating where a woman is “wooed and chased.” Cavill added that the #MeToo movement has changed how he approaches dating. “It’s very difficult to do that if there are certain rules in place,” he told GQ. “Because then it’s like: ‘Well, I don’t want to go up…

Disney’s theatrical film, Moana, a gorgeous story about a “regular girl” who totally wasn’t an ocean spirit or goddess in disguise was beautifully constructed. It had balance, a lovely design, and if you’re feeling generous, you could even say it was perfect. Just like all the other animated films that came before it that it seemingly lifted from. In other words, it seems that Moana may have borrowed/gleaned inspiration/flat out copied scenes. Today on Nerdbot, we’re piecing together the puzzle and bringing you scenes from other cartoons that are just too close to those from Moana. Do you think Disney…

Kotaku reported that earlier this spring, the 64th episode of the Sun & Moon anime aired in Japan. Since then, the episode’s English dub has not been broadcasted in the U.S. Rather, it was skipped entirely. The reason for this erasure? Well, as Bulbapedia and Gamerant explain, Ash dresses up like a Passimian in the episode. Much like James (aka Kojiro in the original Japanese version) and his hot bikini boobs way back in Season One, it sounds harmless on paper that Ash plays a riveting round of dress-up. That said, it’s not merely that he dresses up like a Passimian that appears to have caused the ban, but…
