Over 100 years ago Chelonoidis phantasticus, a species of giant tortoise, was thought to be extinct. Sadly, giant tortoises have been a victim of humanity’s hunting and environmental ravaging, with the remnants of them being severely endangered. In 2019, a single giant tortoise of unconfirmed species was found in the Galapagos islands. Now, in 2021, its been confirmed that the tortoise in question is the last known surviving specimen of Chelonoidis phantasticus. The Galapagos islands are a province of the country of Ecuador. In the suburb of Santa Coloma de Gramenet outside the city of Barcelona, Spain, there were a number of papier-mâché statues built as a means of promoting a local theater (that’s now closed). Only a stegosaurus remains, and has bizarrely turned out to be a death trap. On March 22nd, a 39-year-old man was found deceased, inside one of the legs of the dinosaur.
