Limited Run has a solid reputation for releasing collectible versions of niche games. Much like the Criterion Collection, their whole business model is looking for obscure titles, and making fancy versions for die hard fans. Unlike other specialty distributors, some of the games Limited Run release are maybe not genre classics. This year’s “Scream” was one of the better legacy sequels to come out in recent memory. After the untimely passing of series director Wes Craven, there was no guarantee that a new entry would be any good. Thankfully, the 5th “Scream” managed to be respectful of the series. In reviews, the film is described as having a dull story, bad effects, and clumsy attempts to build a larger world for Sony’s “Spider-Man” franchise. We all thought it was funny for a while. Similar complaints had been lobbied at the two “Venom” films, but those at least Tom Hardy’s spastic performance and a go for broke energy that made the silliness go down easier. “Morbius” only has Jared Leto, a guy who does not have the charisma to carry a bad film by…

When “Twisted Metal” arrived on Sony PlayStation back in 1995, adapting it as a movie or tv show seemed inevitable. The series, about contestants playing a deadly game of destruction derby in a dystopian future, practically writes itself. As the years went on, the franchise lost its popularity. And the chances of an adaptation actually happening began to dwindle. But no intellectual property stays dormant for long, and NBC’s streaming service Peacock is working on a “Twisted Metal” tv show. The game’s most famous character is Sweet Tooth, a killer clown with flaming hair. For a character so sadistic, you…
