Love it or hate it, Roland Emmerich’s 1996 summer blockbuster “Independence Day” remains one of the seminal films to watch on 4th of July. Aside from the title, what makes fans continually come back to this Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum-starring film?Let our friend MovieBob explain a bit, in the “Independence Day” episode of his youtube series “Really That Good.” As written and produced by MovieBob himself, Bob Chipman, you can scroll down further for the episode’s video: REALLY THAT GOOD is a new kind of film-criticism series, built around the radical premise that just because “everyone knows” a movie is…
This just in- sounds like Warner Bros. Pictures is still very keen on developing a live-action film all about DC Comics magic user Zatanna. This is not the first time a project like this has been rumored, but, we have it on pretty good authority that it’s actually happening this time. Gail Simone, who has written some seriously iconic runs on comic series across both Marvel and DC, had a simple one-word confirmation about this particular story. In CBR’s writeup, they point out that this particular Zatanna project is a seperate thing from the already-in-development Justice League Dark live-action thing…
Check out the first trailer for the upcoming SHOWTIME documentary release about one of our favorite all-female bands, The Go-Go’s!
There are few things that bring me more joy each year than the annual 24-hour marathons of the classic comedy with-serious-sci-fi-bent, “Groundhog Day.” The Harold Ramis-directed, Bill Murray-starring story of cynical TV weatherman Phil sent to cover the annual Puxitawny Phil will he/won’t he shadow showing of seasonal expectation is still a masterpiece. It’s almost too smart of science fiction twist. Murray’s Phil gets stuck in a never-ending time loop, repeating the same day over and over and over again. One of the most interesting stories comes from the idea that in a previous draft of the script, Ramis and…
We’re kind of shocked it’s taken this long for someone to offer an official mashup between “Back To The Future” iconic DeLorean and “Transformers.” Meet Gigawatt the Autobot! IDW will be releasing a 4-part comic book series all about the Autobot, and you can read the official announcement below: From IDW comes Transformers / Back to the Future – the four-part, comic book series. The first issue cover is being revealed today, along with the story synopsis: Marty McFly has just returned to his home sweet home, Hill Valley 1985, and everything’s looking up… that is, until Marty and his friend Doc…
Sure, maybe it’s heresy, but “Mallrats” is my personal favorite entry in Kevin Smith’s ViewAskewverse. Mixing some brilliant writing with realistic performances, the tale of comics and love stands the test of time. And, as it turns out, deserves a true sequel. This is something Smith has said he’s wanted to do for awhile, in between his NUMEROUS other projects, writing a script for “Twilight of the Mallrats.” On his Instagram, Smith shared this update with a familiar face, Jason Lee. Looking like Captain Quint in Jaws, the great #jasonlee came by the other night to podcast and talk about #twilightofthemallrats. We never…
Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the married writing duo behind HBO’s “Westworld” have announced their brand-new project for Amazon, and fans of the Wasteland are gonna be excited. Joy and Nolan are currently developing a television series based on the highly popular video game franchise “Fallout.”
It sounds like Dark Horse’s iconic “Alien” and “Predator” comic book series are headed to a new intergalactic home at Marvel Comics. Marvel will be launching all-new stories for both iconic characters in 2021. Check out the first art work from David Finch! Finch said: “Alien and Predator are the two of the most identifiable, iconic characters of all time, and I love them for that. But mostly, it’s being fortunate enough to be a kid when they were new. I’ve seen every movie they’ve ever been in, and I cannot wait to see them wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe. I drew…
Not gonna lie, we thought maybe this report was a holdover from April Fool’s Day. It would appear that Jason Momoa will be saying Mele Kalikimaka as a live-action version of holiday perennial favorite, Frosty The Snowman. Yes, really. According to the report, Momoa will be providing the voice for Frosty, a CGI-animated snowman in an otherwise live-action production from Warner Bros. Pictures. Jon Berg, Greg Silverman, and Geoff Johns are producing. David Berenbaum will be penning the script. Berg commented: “From his role as a fearsome count in a land of ice and fire to the oceanic success we…
