Given the complex nature of the scoring system, I think it is only fair to provide a framework for how we reassess films that have earned the dreaded 0% on Rotten Tomatoes like “A Low Down Dirty Shame.” It’s one thing to earn a low score. It’s quite another to be liked by absolutely no one critically. For the sake of this series, we’re going to operate on the basis that any film with a 0% simply cannot be fixed. The only remedy for a film that deserves it is to never have made the film in the first place.…

Strap in, folks. It’s gonna be a weird one. “Freeway” is proof that movies are by nature of their medium, weird. I know many of you have never, ever heard of this film, and I’m not the least bit surprised. A reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood where Riding hood is an illiterate, foul mouthed, abused and troubled rage monster and the wolf is a sexual sadist and serial killer. Ya, that’s the kind of movie we’re dealing with. And full disclosure, I’ve learned more about the creation and the creators of this film than I ever wanted to, and…
Film genre parodies get a bad rap from film critics most of the time. There’s a strong condescending attitude when it comes to reviews films like “Don’t be a Menace,” and it’s not always warranted. To be fair, film genre parodies are typically low brow comedies, acting more as a string of sketches than a fully realized film. They are often jam packed with as many sexual innuendos and childish punchlines that don’t always land as intended. However, this idea that a genre parody isn’t good because it’s not a Spike Lee critical analysis of social justice is simply absurd…
Only 2 episodes in on Marvel Studios’ first MCU series on Disney+, but I’m already all in for “WandaVision.”
“Bio-Dome” can’t even function on the most basic level of filmmaking, so it absolutely deserves it’s very VERY low Rotten Tomatoes rating.
Let’s take a look at my top 5 favorite Alan Rickman roles, in no particular order, and where to find them.
In our newest ongoing feature installment, we take a look at underrated actor Karl Urban! From Xena to The Boys, he’s always amazing.
“Mortal: Kombat Annihilation” is a sensory assault, feeling more like something that is happening TO you rather than a film.
January and February are a weird time of year for cinema. It’s typically dumping season for studios; the fire sale of movies that will never qualify for the closed awards season but desperately need to get off their shelf. “From Dusk til Dawn” feels oddly out of place and perfect for this time. It’s star studded both in front of and behind the camera and has a decent enough premise that seems more fitting for an October release instead of the “let’s just get this over with” release. And yet, “From Dusk til Dawn” is better than should be even…
Every year, Hollywood gathers to hear the announcement of the nominees for the Academy Awards. It often includes a list of films and nominees the majority of general audiences have never ever heard of. Even A-listers that make the coveted Best Actor/Actress category are often given the nod from movies we didn’t know existed, and some of those actors we didn’t even know they had worked on anything until we hear their name. Which takes us to our underrated star of the week, Viggo Mortensen. Mortensen is the unofficial king of Best Actor nominations for movies we didn’t know about.…
