Just in time for its 50th anniversary, Turner Classic Movies Big Screen Classics is presenting John Wayne in True Grit (1969) in special theater showings. True Grit was adapted from a 1968 novel by Charles Portis and tells the story of a young 14-year-old girl (Kim Darby) who hires U.S. Marshal “Rooster” Cogburn (John Wayne) to track down the hired hand (Jeff Corey) who murdered her father. Looks like John Cena is going to be a busy man. He has been cast in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2 in an as yet unknown role. In January there was a rumor that he might star in a Duke Nukem movie. Lego recently set a Guinness World Record for largest display by using 36,440 “Star Wars” minifigures in a 20 foot x 20 foot (6 meter x 6 meter) display in the shape of a stormtrooper helmet. Previous record attempts had the figures in straight lines. The previous record was 35,210 “Star Wars” minifigures. The display took 12 builders 38 hours to create. It was part of a Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. Before the attempt, the company had to check its inventory to ensure that they had enough stormtrooper minifigure parts! Jurassic World 3 will complete the trilogy of the Jurassic World films. The first Jurassic World debuted in 2015 and was followed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018. James Gunn’s group of villains for Suicide Squad 2 is growing. It had been rumored that returning cast members Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) would be joined by such villains as Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher, and King Shark. There has been a lot of interest in the shows coming to Disney+ when the service launches, hopefully filling the void caused by Netflix’s cancellation of its Marvel shows (Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Punisher).
