Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

First and foremost, the filmmakers behind this project are maybe a little behind in the times. Assuming “kids these days” don’t understand the craziness that comes with getting a new video game system is dated. We say this, having watched the Nintendo Switch be unavailable for months, as well as the rollout of the PlayStation 5. Sure, not the same thing really with all the entertainment options around, but. Seriously. Kids understand better than we think. All that said, “8-Bit Christmas” looks to be one of those nostalgia bombs aimed at telling a story the entire family can at least…

This is perhaps some of the most interesting news we’re likely to get this week. Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “What We Do In The Shadows”) has a new film project in the works. He’ll be adapting Alejandro Jodorwosky and Moebius’s graphic novel, The Incal. Talk about some iconic artwork. One of our favorite things about The Incal is it includes A LOT of the concepts from Jodorowsky’s doomed but incredible “Dune” project that Moebius did the art for. There are aliens and humanoids, fantastical space opera elements, all the things kids go wild for. While we ourselves do not condone…

Yes, we know, why does Disney have to remake all their animated classics into live action films? The only thing we as audience members can really do is hope for the best most of the time. And, when casting announcements start coming, appriciate who they DO add. Like the most recent reveal of Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman,” “Red Notice”) possibly taking the crown of the Evil Queen for a new version of “Snow White.”We say possibly because so far, this is one of those “is in talks for” times. So, it may not work out, but we’re assuming at this…

While we absolutely believe the Halloween season SHOULD last until at least the week of Thanksgiving, one of the harbingers of the Christmas season has been witnessed. We’re speaking of course of Mariah Carey, emerging from her hibernation, to usher in the beginning of the Christmas season. As posted on Halloween Eve, you can see and hear, all she wants for Christmas is YOU. The ACTUAL reason for the video was to announce an upcoming Apple TV+ holiday special coming sometime in December.

Oddly enough, we were JUST talking about the upcoming “Morbius” film, starring Oscar winner Jared Leto. A notable character from Marvel Comics, Michael Morbius becomes a Living Vampire while hunting for a cure for an unknown illness. Well…at least in this version. Adria Arjona stars as Michael’s girlfriend Martine Bancroft, who not only is important to the Vampire’s story, but also (in comics) ties into the Fantastic Four! Michael Keaton, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, and Matt Smith also star. While Sony Pictures did NOT offer an official release date for the film, we do know “Morbius” will open exclusively in…

We’re still over here not over that most recent “Wheel of Time” trailer, and here comes Amazon with new character posters. Seriously, as fans of Robert Jordan’s novels (which were later completed by Brandon Sanderson), it really does feel like showrunner Rafe Judkins and co know what they’re doing. The 7 character posters highlight our main characters for season one of “Wheel Of Time.” Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henny), Nynaeve al’Meara (Zoë Robins),  Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris for season 1, but has been recast for season 2), Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), Egwene Al’Vere (Madeleine Madden), and Rand…

While we’re still very much “Dune” focused right now, we couldn’t help but point out that stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya almost worked together before. If you didn’t know, Chalamet actually auditioned for the “Spider-Man” role that went to Tom Holland. In a recent chat with Josh Horowitz, Chalamet and Zendaya chatted about it just a tiny bit. The biggest take away from all these lovely interviews? The pair really do get along. “Dune” is currently playing in theaters worldwide, and available to stream on HBO Max.
