There is honestly more to say about the making of “Street Fighter” than there is about the actual film it ended up becoming. That makes this review rather difficult; how the film was made is far more interesting that the film itself, making its review pale in comparison. It is also difficult for me personally because, despite “Street Fighter” truly being an abysmal conglomerate of poor choices, I still enjoy the hell out of it. It’s not good by any stretch, but I can’t separate nostalgia and the absolute bat shit story of how it all came to be to…

When it comes to Adam Sandler films, it helps to organize them into 4 distinct categories: The manchild, the subdued comedian, the “did you know Adam Sandler can act?,” and whatever the hell he’s doing at Netflix. “Happy Gilmore” surprisingly falls into the second category. This is surprising for two reasons: it falls directly in the middle of his man child 90s run and because prior to this most recent viewing, I had mistakenly equated it with “Billy Madison.” In the 25 years since its release, I have held to the idea that “Happy Gilmore” and “Billy Madison” are essentially…

Full disclosure: I have an unwavering and undying crush on Ana de Armas. That’s not a reason for anyone to make the list of underrated actors, since we’re critiquing and highlighting their work, but I would be remised if I didn’t publicly confess the huge celebrity crush I have on her. It’s irrelevant, but I would like the court to note it for their records. I’m also sneaking de Armas into this series at a premature time, as I have no doubt that she’s on the verge of climbing the Hollywood ranks. Luckily for me, shes’ still relatively unknown, and…

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love gangster movies. I’ve seen more than my fair share- good and bad- fictional retellings and documentaries alike. That being said, “Gotti” puts me in a really weird place when it comes to film reviews. Not just within it’s own genre of mobster movies, but for movies on the whole. I honestly don’t know what to do with it or how to feel about it. Luckily, “Gotti” only needs to be weighed on whether or a not it deserves its 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. We’re gonna have to take both…

Not only do I get to learn a lot about actors and their careers in this series, I am also privy to unrelated discoveries that send me down a whole different type of rabbit hole. Highlighting Rachel Weisz this week as our underrated actor has done just that. What I discovered was that after her role in “Stealing Beauty,” only her second film ever she was given the title of an “english rose?” In short, it means a naturally beautiful, elegant Englishwoman, and the list of English roses is surprisingly short. It includes the likes of Princess Diana, Julie Andrews,…

I’m sure many of you from the headline alone are wondering how in the world young Professor Xavier actor James McAvoy can possibly make the underrated actor’s spotlight. Everyone knows him, and everyone generally regards him a good, solid actor. And yet, I’m not sold on the idea of him being an A-lister, and despite showing up in practically everything every time you turn around, his work and incredible talent still manages fly under the radar. So yeah- beyond the iconic “X-Men” fame, James McAvoy is criminally underrated. Considering his filmography only begins roughly 25 years ago, it’s incredible the…
