In 1999, “The Blair Witch Project,” written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, took the world by storm. For the past 25 years, the found footage genre has dominated horror, due to the film’s low budget but high return at the box office. Lionsgate and Blumhouse announced at CinemaCon that they are partnering on another entry into “The Blair Witch Project” franchise. This upcoming movie will be part of a larger multi-movie deal between the studios. Last year, horror fans got a pleasant surprise with “Saw X.” By the tenth installment most franchises start to lose steam or become impossible to follow. But “Saw X” was a huge box office hit and the best-reviewed entry in the franchise. So, of course, Lionsgate quickly greenlit “Saw XI” which just got its first teaser trailer and a pushed-back 2025 release date. “Saw XI,” was originally slated to hit theaters on September 27, 2024, but that has changed to September 26, 2025. No cause for this delay was given, but it seems that the film hasn’t even entered production…

The decision to cast Cate Blanchett as Lilith in Eli Roth’s film adaption of the video game “Borderlands” was polarizing. Some fans hate the idea, others are curious, and even more just seem downright confused.   Blanchett is no stranger to big-budget blockbusters having starred in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and “Indiana Jones in The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.” But the actress is mostly known more for her dramatic character studies. Like playing Lydia Tár in “TÁR,” Jasmine in “Blue Jasmine,” or starring as the titular character in “Carol.” So her casting in Roth’s action-packed sci-fi…

The late great Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim (“Into the Woods”) will be honored once again with a new revue “Old Friends.” It will star multi-Tony winner Bernadette Peters (“Annie Get Your Gun,” “Mozart in the Jungle”) in her West End debut, and Tony winner Lea Salonga (“Miss Saigon,” “Les Misérables”). This revue was devised by Cameron Mackintosh, and will be the third such devoted to Sondheim’s work. Fortunately, Mackintosh was able to consult with the late composer during the Covid shutdown. The show “was Steve’s idea, born during lockdown, when he suggested it was time (and we had plenty of…

There are very few universal truths but, 2+2=4, fire is hot, and NEVER look directly at a solar eclipse, are some good rules to follow. On April 8th, the United States got to witness a truly awesome celestial phenomenon- a total solar eclipse. Unfortunately, it seems like some people didn’t get the memo about how to view it. This is despite the many media outlets covering how to safely do so. Since that day, Google searches for “my eyes hurt” and “why do my eyes hurt” spiked. According to Google Trends data, these searches topped the same query traffic after…

Four-time Oscar nominee David Lynch (“Dune,” “Twin Peaks”) is still hoping his animated feature “Snootworld” will come to fruition. This is despite Netflix recently rejecting his fairytale pitch. In true Lynch fashion, he has said very little publicly about the film until recently.  The History of “Snootworld” Lynch began to work on the project two decades ago with Caroline Thompson (“The Nightmare Before Christmas”), who penned the first and third acts of the script. Lynch scripted the second act and will produce the project, but is undecided on if he will direct. At one point he was eyeing up his…
