Hi, I’m Amy. I like long walks in the graveyard, horror movies, comic books, and bringing you the latest in nerd-centric news.

Prolific director Martin Scorsese says he will be once again making a film about the life of Jesus Christ. It seems like it will be a huge departure from his 1988 film “The Last Temptation of Christ,” which starred Willem Dafoe as the religious icon. The movie featured some highly controversial scenes, causing no shortage of protests by some religious organizations.  Scorsese confirmed the project in 2023. He recently discussed how he intends for the film to subvert viewers expectations about organized religion. “I’m trying to find a new way to make it more accessible and take away the negative…

Director David Bruckner (“Hellraiser” 2022) will be writing and directing “The Blob” reimagining for Warner Bros. Pictures. This will be the third time this movie has been remade since its inception in 1958, which starred Steve McQueen. It was then remade by Larry Hagman in 1972 as “Beware! The Blob.” The next time was Chuck Russell’s 1988 film starring Kevin Dillion. The original film centers around an amorphous alien lifeform that hits a rural Pennsylvania town and begins consuming everyone who crosses its path. Each victim causes the red gelatinous lifeform to grow and become stronger. Until it is powerful…

There is a bit of a shake-up for the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.” Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn”) has replaced Andrew Garfield (“The Amazing Spider-Man”) as Frankenstein’s Monster. This change thankfully doesn’t seem to be done with any malice. Some strike postponements leading to scheduling conflicts with Garfield, and there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between him or the production. The cast for “Frankenstein” will still include Mia Goth (“Pearl”), Christoph Waltz (“Most Dangerous Game”), Felix Kammerer (“All Quiet on the Western Front”), Lars Mikkelsen (“The Witcher”), David Bradley (“Pinocchio”), Christian Convery (“Sweet Tooth”), and Oscar Isaac (“Spider-Man:…

Adult Swim addressed “Steamboat Willie” hitting the public domain in the most on-brand way possible- turning it into a raunchy animation. The short is the first appearance of the iconic mascot of the brand, Mickey Mouse. It hit public domain on January 1st, 2024. This means people can use that version of the character, without the full force of the notoriously litigious company coming down on them. As you can imagine, the internet has been having a field day with this. There is already a horror movie on the way, too. Since internet culture is their bread and butter, Adult Swim…

Creator, writer, and star of “The Orville” Seth MacFarlane has added even more to the confusion about the show’s future. In 2023, he said odds for renewal were “50-50.” We haven’t had a lot of news about the series since then. But, we do know it ISN’T canceled, but it isn’t renewed either.  “All I can tell you is that there is no official death certificate for ‘The Orville’,” MacFarlane told The Wrap. “It is still with us. I can’t go any further than that at the moment. There are too many factors.” Co-star Scott Grimes chimed in to remind…
