Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies. Since 2016 he's run his own YouTube channel under the moniker of The Critical Android where he livestreams video games and uploads podcasts about pop culture and Frasier.

When Obi Wan Kenobi said “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy,” he was referring to the Tattooine space port of Mos Eisley. What he could’ve been referring to was daytime television. What was once a bastion for game shows and soap operas eventually gave way to talk shows. This in turn gave way to sensationalized talk shows like “The Jerry Springer Show,” “The Jenny Jones Show”, and “Maury.” With those long gone, there has still been one domino left to fall. That domino is “Dr. Phil”, and the fall is happening this year. Phil…

Actress Kathy Bates is, and should forever be considered one of the greatest of the last 40 years. While “Misery” wasn’t her first film role, it broke her to the mainstream with a dynamic performance that showed she was capable of anything. Her next fete? Taking up the mantle of one of the most iconic detectives in television history- Matlock. From 1986 to 1995, Andy Griffith played the charming southern lawyer who has since become a staple of syndication and the lives of octogenarians. Well, the latter part is true if you’re an avid viewer of “The Simpsons” at least.…

Among the many beloved shows that had a weak finale, few landed with the kind of thud SHOWTIME’s “Dexter” did. From 2006-2013, audiences followed the chronicles of the serial killer with a moral code played by Michael C. Hall as he killed those who “deserved” to be killed. And maybe one or two others. The show’s finale left such a bad taste in people’s mouths, it became one of the motivating factors behind reviving the show as “Dexter: New Blood” in late 2021. While the revival season was successful, there will not be a season 2. From here on out,…

2023 may be the year that has more articles written about “Frasier” since it premiered thirty years ago in 1993. More bits of information have emerged in the lead-up to the revival’s premiere, and this latest bit of casting information may be the most interesting one yet. Just like the previous announcement revealing someone old and someone new, so does this one. And the returning character is probably not someone you expect. Die hard “Frasier” fans will know one of the recurring storylines in the show’s eleventh and final season was the pregnancy of Daphne Moon (Jane Leeves). The series…

It has been over 25 years since “GoldenEye 007” was released for Nintendo 64. The Rare-developed game was a landmark title, proving first-person-shooters could work on a home console. The genre had mostly been defined by PC titles like “Doom” and “Wolfenstein 3D.” Sure those titles had ports to the SNES, Sega Genesis, and more, but they didn’t play the same or feel the same. “GoldenEye 007” had the distinction of being made for consoles of the time, and now you can finally feel that sensation again as the James Bond title hits Xbox Game Pass and the Nintendo Switch…

Sometimes bloopers and jokes can come back around to not be as funny when there’s a change in context. It’s bound to happen every now and then as humor and life itself are ever evolving things. One example of this has come to light recently regarding the television series, “Home Improvement” and it’s star, Tim Allen. Only a few days after he was making headlines following a story in former co-star Pamela Anderson’s new book, a certain scene from the beloved sitcom has come under scrutiny. In Anderson’s memoir “Love, Pamela,” the model-turned-actor recounted an incident on the set of…

Sometimes Harrison Ford pops up in the darndest things, especially here in the latter part of his career. We would not have suspected him taking over the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Marvel Studios from William Hurt, but he is. After starring in his first tv series (Paramount+’s “Yellowstone” prequel series, “1923”), Ford is heading to Apple TV+ for “Shrinking. “Shrinking” stars Jason Segel as a struggling therapist, seemingly burnt out from the combination of his patients, and losing his wife. During one session where he’s listening to a patient drone on, he suddenly snaps and delivers advice…

Leave it to Hollywood to never let a money-making opportunity go to waste. If something strikes it big, you better believe that the film-making industry will capitalize on it. Enter “M3GAN’;” everyone’s favorite killer doll who isn’t Chucky, and wasn’t animated through a voodoo chant. “M3GAN” made a killing at the box office since she debuted at the start of January. How much of a killing to you ask? Enough to already have a release date for a sequel. If there’s one thing Hollywood continues to underestimate, it’s the value of horror titles released outside the Halloween season. Regardless of…

Actor John Larroquette has been making the rounds lately thanks the reboot of NBC’s “Night Court.” Larroquette, who starred in the original, is returning for the revival. Regardless of how you feel about revivals and reboots, they’re always good for bringing classic television stars to the forefront for a while and doing the late night talk shows and junkets. This is the whole reason we got Columbo himself, Peter Falk, on a 2003 episode of “Late Night With Conan O’ Brien.” It’s a great opportunity for legends to break out some fun facts, and boy howdy, did Larroquette drop an…

Few things in the world generate such intense opinions and feelings as does the British Royal Family. Many of those opinions come from high profile Britons themselves. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been a particularly divisive figure following her marriage to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Of the many things that have been said or written about the Duchess, few have been as vitriolic as those from “Top Gear” presenter Jeremy Clarkson in December of 2022. Following another article he wrote about her, Clarkson may be persona non grata at Amazon. Clarkson is no stranger to controversy. One…
