“Scrubs” Lands Another Season on ABC

Maybe they can do this all on their own? There was a lot of hype surrounding the build up to Scrubs getting a revival on ABC for 2026. The medical sitcom had a strong eight season run from 2001 – 2009 before ending with a ninth season most fans choose to ignore. When it was eventually brought back following some suave contract maneuvering, the hope was it would recapture the magic of the original run. It seems like it has done more than enough because ABC is bringing it back again.

    Scrubs is Back Again!

The tenth season of Scrubs began airing on February 25th of this year and wrapped its nine episode run on April 15th. It brought back almost the entire cast of the original in either main or recurring roles. For example, Ken Jenkins, who played Dr. Bob Kelso was nowhere to be seen this season. Maybe not all hope is lost for the aged doctor to return though. After all, season two of the revival, season 11 overall, is good to go! ABC picked up most of its comedies for a renewal with Scrubs being among them.

We don’t want to spoil anything from the season if you haven’t watched it yet. What we can tell you though is that it picks up as if season 9 had never happened. Even though that season focused on a new group of interns at Sacred Heart, series creator Bill Lawrence didn’t want to brand the season as part of Scrubs. If it was to even exist at all, it was only supposed to be a spin-off. It still featured some of the main cast returning across several episodes but season 10 has wiped that out.

    Season 10 and Beyond

Instead, the new series sees Zach Braff as J.D., returning to Sacred Heart as the new chief of medicine. This would be a role once occupied by the aforementioned Dr. Kelso. J.D. now finds himself working again with his ex-wife Elliot in internal medicine. He also gets to reunite with his friend Turk, now chief of surgery. Antics ensue. Because of course they do.

With the renewal just being announced, we don’t have any details to share on when the next season will premiere or what its episode count will be. No cast shake-ups have been announced either. Hopefully this means we get the full gang back together again with more recurring characters popping up. If we can get Hooch back, then who can’t we get? As anyone working at Sacred Heart can tell you, Hooch is crazy. But when we hear more updates on the show we’ll be sure to let you know.
