Pixar has announced their latest film will be called “Elemental”. Their 27th feature comes from director Pete Sohn who co-directed “The Good Dinosaur.” He is also the voice of Emile in “Ratatouille” and will be voicing Sox the robotic cat in the upcoming “Lightyear.” The studio described the film as: “In a city where fire, water, land, & air residents live together, a fiery young woman & a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: How much they have in common.” Sohn says it was inspired by his childhood growing up in New York City. He grew up the son of…

We’re pretty sure it’s okay to feed these folks after midnight: meet the human voice cast of the upcoming “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.” Series writer and executive producer Tze Chun announced that actors Ming-Na Wen and BD Wong will voice Fong and Hon Wing respectively. They are the parents of Sam Wing (who will be voiced by Izaac Wang) – Sam is the same shop owner we eventually meet in the 1984 film. The show will also feature absolute legend James Hong voicing Grandpa. At 93 and with over 650 film credits, Hong finally received his star on the…
The “Crazy Rich Asians” universe is about to get richer, as it seems there’s an Astrid-centric spinoff in the works. In addition to the sequel that is still in development, it now sounds like we’ll get story about Gemma Chan’s Astrid Young Teo. She’s the fabulous cousin of Nick Young (Henry Golding) and as we find out in the first film [spoiler alert] is being cheated on by her husband. Those who have read Kevin Kwan’s original book trilogy will find it interesting that Astrid is getting a spinoff. Considering much of the second book (which is still being developed…
Sam Raimi has brought us the darkest MCU movie yet with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” To be clear, we don’t care what multiverse you’re from: spoilers should banish you to the seventh circle of hell. So, here’s our best take on the film without hopefully giving anything away. Listen on Apple Podcasts Overall, it probably wouldn’t matter what we said about “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Folks would go see it anyway, and that’s totally fine. All that being said, we went in with middling expectations. The original film doesn’t quite hold up as well…
John Woo is a busy bee these days, he’s set to remake his own classic film “The Killer” in the English language for NBC’s streaming service Peacock. The original 1989 film starred Chow Yun-fat, Danny Lee, and Sally Yeh. Chow plays an assassin who accidentally wounds an innocent civilian in the crossfire of a shootout. He sets out to make amends and prevent the victim, Yeh’s character, from going blind due to the injury. Agreeing to perform one last hit to raise money for the procedure, the film is an ode to moral ambiguity. It’s also an ode to over…
Looks like “Fast X” has found its new director, with Louis Leterrier stepping into the driver’s seat. No stranger to action franchises, he directed the 2008 version of “The Incredible Hulk” as well as the first two “Transporter” films. Things might get more Shaw-mazing if there’s a Jason Statham reunion to be had. However given the amount of fresh star power in the “Fast Saga” tenth film, we don’t have high hopes for more than a cameo. “Fast X” recently announced the addition of Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa. Not satisfied with adding just ONE superhero, they also snagged “Captain Marvel”…
Nicolas Cage has truly been building his entire life to “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” For the last ~15 years of his film career, we’ve been wondering “Is he in on the joke?” There have been many films where we don’t think the answer is YES. We’re talking post “National Treasure” era to pre “Mandy” days. With this latest release, we have faith that it’s a resounding SURE IS! For superfans of Nicolas Kim Coppola aka Nic Cage, this film is for YOU. The film is much enhanced if you are familiar with the details of his filmography. For…
Director Robert Eggers latest film “The Northman” is probably his most commercial piece to date, but also his least distinctive. Those familiar with his work on “The VVitch” or “The Lighthouse” should brace for a slightly more watered-down version of the auteur. That’s not to say this Viking epic is bad. It just left us wanting a bit more. We also would have been perfectly fine if he’d headed in an entirely different stylistic direction than his previous work. The following spoiler is given away in the trailer and official synopsis. Alexander Skarsgård stars as a Viking prince who basically…
The Continent just got a little more crowded as “The Witcher” season 3 announced 4 new cast members. Joining Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia will be Robbie Amell, Meng’er Zhang, Hugh Skinner, and Christelle Elwin. Amell most recently starred in Amazon’s “Upload” season 2. He’ll be playing Gallatin, the leader of guerrilla Scoia’tael from Nilfgaard. Zhang stole the show in Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” as Xu Xialing. She’ll be joining “The Witcher” season 3 as Milva. Adopted by dryads in Brokilon Forest, Milva stands out as a human adoptee. Skinner you may recognize from…
We found ourselves very torn about whether we should even see “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.” Growing up a lifelong “Harry Potter” fan, it broke our hearts to see JK Rowling continue to spout her bigoted views. Trying to take that aspect out of it, the “Fantastic Beasts” films are an anemic spinoff at best. The latest film is a slight improvement over the previous entries. Eddie Redmayne continues to play Newt Scamander. We’re not saying every protagonist has to be brash and brave like a Gryffindor. However we find Redmayne’s Scamander a milquetoast lead incapable of carrying…
