We are very sad to report the passing of a true legend in the music world. Richard M. Sherman, arguably best known for his decades of compositions for the Walt Disney Company, has passed away.The two-time Oscar winner wrote some of the most iconic pieces of Disney music, along with his brother Robert B. Sherman (who passed away in 2012). Atomic Monster’s own James Wan (“The Conjuring,” “Aquaman”) is looking to reboot something. Not that big of a surprise considering how many of the popular franchises are getting the once-again treatment. But what IS kind of exciting about his particular plan is the direction he wants to go in. Classic tv series “The Munsters” has known it’s fair share of reboot attempts. There was a comedy attempt in 2017, Bryan Fuller’s doomed “Mockingbird Lane” series pilot, and more recently, Rob Zombie’s 2022 film. But this time, the take is going in a “darker” direction. This just in- from “Star Trek: Picard” to Marvel Studios, Terry Matalas is boldly going forward with a new fandom-centric series. Matalas will reportedly takeover showrunning duties on the now resurrected series focused on Paul Bettany’s “Avengers” character Vision.We don’t know much more than Marvel eyeing a 2026 release for the show on Disney+. This just in- Marvel Studios upcoming “X-Men” film has reportedly found it’s writer. Michael Lesslie, who penned “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” for Lionsgate, will write the script. Thats….sort of all we know for sure so far. This just in-hot on the heels of news of Simon Kinberg wanting to lead a future “Star Trek” project for Paramount Studios, news from the tv side of the galaxy. The upcoming Starfleet Academy series will be lead by none other than Oscar winner Holly Hunter!! The series was officially ordered back in March. I just need to start this off by saying “please, no.” Producer turned writer turned director Simon Kinberg apparently wants to go boldly into Paramount Pictures’ legacy franchise, “Star Trek.” This news comes as Sony Pictures enters negotiations to purchase fabled filmhouse and studio. Fans of the Neil Gaiman-created “The Sandman” series are probably excited about this news. The Netflix series adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name has already been a favorite, with both critics and audiences alike. From pretty perfect casting for these characters to stellar writing, “The Sandman” season 2 is certainly something to look forward to.
