Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Yup, we still remember every single word to the annoyingly catchy theme song for Will Smith’s “The Fresh Prince of Bel-air” 1990s tv staple. Imagine our delight when some enterprising person (thanks internet!) decided to do a version of the song, but as if it were a traditional Irish Pub ballad. Seriously. It’s amazing, and Stefan Murphy of The Mighty Stef really outdid himself with it. You can see/listen to the song here on Murphy’s Facebook page, or scroll down. What other themes deserve this amazing treatment? Let us know! (We’re hoping for “The Golden Girls.”)

Ok, so, we’ll admit to enjoying our fair share of low budget parody films. Seriously, remember when SYFY used to do all those TERRIBLE CGI-creature feature films, and how horribly awesome they were? Yeah. That type of thing. Enter one parody film that “Star Trek” fans might wanna check out, “Unbelievable!!!!!.” Yes, that is indeed Snoop Dogg on the poster. He’s not only appearing in the film, but is also an executive producer on it. “Unbelievable!!!!!” comes from Archangel Films LA Writer/Director Steven L. Fawcette and producer Angelique Fawcette, who also star in the film. “Unbelievable!!!!!” is a Sci-Fi Parody…

We’re still really looking forward to seeing what Don Mancini’s upcoming “Chucky” tv series is all about. If you’ll recall, Mancini wrote the first “Child’s Play” film, as well as pretty much every other film in the actual franchise, minus 2019’s reboot, which he was not a part of. That first “Child’s Play” introduced audiences to the ginger murder doll, Chucky, and subsequently launched a worldwide phenomenon within the horror and comedy fandoms. Just today, Mancini tweeted the first teaser for his brand-new upcoming tv series all about Chucky, and revealed that both USA Network and SYFY will carry the…

Ah, good ol Joe Exotic, bleached-mullet wearin’ “Tiger King” personality. Are you sick of seeing him yet? Because if you’re not, Animal Planet has a new docuseries just for you.”Surviving Joe Exotic” is sort of a rival series to Netflix’s “Tiger King,” and we’re super curious to see what’s different. From the first trailer released by Animal Planet, the most noticeable difference is the almost complete lack of Carole Baskin from the narrative. Also, “Surviving Joe Exotic” is definitely focusing more on the…you know, actual tigers and other animals that populated the Oklahoma zoo complex. You can check out the first…

If you were lucky enough to be a young person in the late 90s with access to PBS, chances are you know exactly who Wishbone is. The precocious Jack Russell terrier with a love for retelling classic stories from novels across the world introduced a generation to books they may have other-wise not ever cracked open. (This is not to take anything away from “Reading Rainbow,” which of course had been doing the same thing for years before Wishbone. But you don’t have to take my word for it.) The news today is that yes, that rumor from earlier this…
