Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

2020 has been absolutely awful, we can all agree on that, right? Perhaps one of the last bastions of joy and hope we had for this year of hell was Halloween, but of course due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic- that ain’t happening. But what about our Spooky Season traditions? What about the figures of Halloween? What about Michael Myers? We’d like to bring your attention to Youtube user Andrew Kasch, and his video showcasing what the heck Michael Myers is doing with himself in Haddonfield now that Halloween is officially cancelled this year. In this very short but very…

One of the series premieres we’re looking forward to the most this year is Hulu’s upcoming revival of 90’s animated series “Animaniacs.” The first tease for the show was absolutely perfect, blending the Warner brothers and sister into the world of “Jurassic Park,” and the new trailer is pretty great too. Yes, the original voice cast is back, and so is executive producer Steven Spielberg. They’re back! The Warner brothers, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister Dot, have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. After returning to their beloved home, the…

We know we keep saying it, but 2020 has been such a weird damn year, and we can’t wait for it to be over. Sure, most of the troubles and problems won’t be going away when January 1st rolls in, but from a purely psychological standpoint, it’ll help. A year without new theatrical film releases has been something we never thought we’d see in our lifetime, and every time a teaser or new trailer rolls out, it reminds us of what we’re missing. That said, sometimes Disney knows we need a little joy in our mornings, so they release something…

The winter holidays have no shortage of annual film and tv traditions- “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer,” even Adam Sandler’s “8 Crazy Nights”- but some of our perennial favorites won’t be on network television. The catalog of Peanuts holiday classics like “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” “Charlie Brown Christmas,” and Thanksgiving specials are not airing on regular tv in 2020. Instead, they’ll all be available through Apple TV+’s subscription service, where the Peanuts gang currently resides. Something nice that Apple TV+ is doing though is that the Charlie Brown specials (like The Great Pumpkin) will be available…

You know that thing in zombie movies where it’s like the genre doesn’t exist within that particular film’s world? Like they don’t know the warning signs of the undead rising, or how to go for the head? It’s kind of like these scientists- who have successfully extracted insect DNA from tree resin. Now where have we heard that idea before? You can read all about the study and subsequent findings on Journal PLOS ONE here (which really is fascinating, no matter how many jokes we make about it), and the contributing authors here. The gist of this particular extraction was to…
