2021 is the second year without the annual nerd pilgrimage to San Diego, CA for Comic Con. While officially, the convention is NOT happening in person this year, that didn’t stop fans and cosplayers from gathering in the Gas Lamp District. Paying their respects to the hub of ‘the steps’ that separate halves of the convention center, cosplayers took the opportunity to take a group photo. During San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) At Home 2021 edition, Weta Workshop teased some new characters coming to their wonderful Mini Epics vinyl figures line. The existing properties represented in the collections range from “Lord of The Rings” (duh), all the way to “Ghostbusters” and “Alien!” Joining this storied company are three figures from Jim Henson’s iconic and wonderful “Labyrinth!” A Goblin King Jareth, Sarah, and Ludo will make up the set. While not the first of its kind, the Her Universe Fashion Show has become a big part of San Diego Comic Con. Featuring original and pop culture inspired designs, each event is a treat. True, we’re not all together at SDCC this year, but thanks to the At Home event, we can still see what participants came up with. This just in- a new “Star Wars” live action casting rumor is making the rounds, and we do want to urge you to take this with a grain of red Crait salt. According to various dubious online sources (most of them pretty ok, actually) it would appear that we know who will be bringing Grand Admiral Thrawn to a galaxy far, far away. It’s Lars Mikkelsen! Perhaps one of the series we are the most looking forward to this summer, STARZ wrestling drama “Heels,” just kicked off their first SDCC panel! Starring Stephen Amell (“Arrow”) and Alexander Ludwig (“Vikings”), the pair play brothers Jack and Ace Spade, rivals in the ring but family none-the-less. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy.
