It would appear that HBO Max has renewed “Sex and the City” continuation series “And Just Like That.” We…struggled…to get through the 10 episode first season. So much of the magic that made the original a cultural phenomenon isn’t there. This isn’t the fault of the cast or the production, really. It’s more that as an audience, we’ve evolved.
I will say that many of the subjects touched on are completely relevant in today’s climate. Parents struggling to accept and support a trans child, discovering one’s own sexuality after a lifetime of repression. There’s some good and important stuff, to be sure.
Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for the HBO Max, told Variety “And Just Like That” is the most successful original series to date for the streaming service.
“And Just Like That” season 1 is available to stream on HBO Max now. No word on when we might see season 2. But definitely watch the making-of docu (also on HBO Max), it’s pretty great.
