At long last, “Stranger Things” is returning. This morning, streaming giant Netflix shared twelve images from season 4. Things have changed, and those kids we’ve watched grow up…aren’t kids anymore.
“When we pitched it to Netflix all those years ago, we pitched it as the kids are…’The Goonies‘ in ‘E.T.,’” Ross Duffer, one half of the creative team The Duffer Brothers, said of the show. “That’s their storyline. And the adults are in ‘Jaws‘ and ‘Close Encounters‘ and then the teens are in ‘Nightmare on Elm Street‘ or ‘Halloween.’ But, this year, we don’t have the kids. We can’t do ‘TheGoonies‘ anymore. And so, suddenly, we’re leaning much harder into that horror movie territory that we love. It was fun to make that change.”
Season 4, volume 1 picks up six months after the events of season 3. Maybe you’ll recall the battle at the Starcourt Mall. Expect s4 to have a much darker “horror movie” vibe than the previous season.
“Stranger Things” stars Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler) and Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner).
Special newcomers for s4 include Jamie Campbell Bower (Peter Ballard), Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson), Eduardo Franco (Argyle), Sherman Augustus (Lt. Colonel Sullivan), Mason Dye (Jason Carver), Nikola Djuricko (Yuri), Tom Wlaschiha (Dmitri), Myles Truitt (Patrick), Regina Ting Chen (Ms. Kelly), Grace Van Dien (Chrissy), Logan Riley Bruner (Fred Benson), Logan Allen (Jake), Elodie Grace Orkin (Angela), John Reynolds (Officer Callahan), Rob Morgan (Chief Powell), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie) and Robert Englund (Victor Creel).
“Stranger Things” season 4 volume 1 makes its debut on May 27th 2022, with volume 2 following on July 1st 2022. Seasons 1-3 are available to stream now, only on Netflix.
