Earlier this week Akira Miyazaki passed away at the age of 84 due to bile duct cancer. His oldest daughter Momoko was chief mourner at his funeral Thursday November 29. He was responsible for writing six movie scripts in the series Otoko wa Tsurai yo, “Being a Man is Tough”. He first directed movie was a 1971 film called Naite Tamaru ka, “As If I’d Cry”. With only a few days left before Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse coming out in theaters, Sony has high hopes for the film. So much so that they have already announced that they are planning for not only a sequel but a fully female spinoff as well. Joaquim Dos Santos, who most recently directed Netflix’s Voltron Series is set to direct the sequel. Joaquim also worked on the Avatar: the Last Airbender series for Nickelodeon. Last week a tweet from Nintendo Versus told us that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was “punching it’s way into the record books”. As a Thanksgiving treat Disney launched the official trailer for the new Lion King live action movie. As a super fan of the original Lion King animated movie that came out ’94 I was a little skeptical that this would hit all the beats.
