A classic “Saturday Night Live” sketch featuring Steve Martin has begun to recirculate on Twitter. This happens- someone discovers a piece of comedy for the first time and it gets traction. But this time, there is a ‘controversy’ (real or imagined, you be the judge) surrounding it. Some Twitter users were alleging the sketch, a true product of the 70s, was culturally inappropriate. But, this could maybe be chalked up to the version of the sketch circulating. Namely, the missing monologue that comes before the sketch (scroll down for the entire video). This lack of context led to some confusion…
The Wachowski sisters, filmmakers who influenced a generation of cyberpunks with their “The Matrix” films, want to help trans youth. This is obviously a subject near and dear to both Lilly Wachowski and Lana Wachowski. The sisters are emptying their archives, and are offering “a bunch of cool shit” up for auction! Some items from their films, and some from their own impressive (we assume) private stash. Absentee bids are being accepted online via Potter & Potter auctions. You can also see the full catalog here. The actual auction will take place on May 12th at 10 A.M. central time.…

This is all recorded via a selfie stick he was holding. …
A Kentucky man has won a $450,000 lawsuit against his former employer for throwing him an unwanted birthday party. The trouble started in 2019 when Gravity Diagnostics held a party for Kevin Berling’s birthday. Problem is; Berling had requested they not celebrate due to an anxiety disorder. A reasonable accommodation, the company can save a few bucks on a cake and streamers. No problem, right? Unfortunately “the person who was responsible for the birthday parties who he talked to flat-out forgot about his request,” Berling’s attorney, Tony Buche, said. The person in charge of parties “didn’t do it to be…
Move over Mars- Jupiter’s moon Europa may be the most likely place to have aliens! Europa has a huge liquid ocean sitting under a sheet of ice. And as we know, where there is water, there is often life. Even though the moon is only one-fourth the diameter of Earth, its ocean may have twice as much water as our planet. Research that supports this theory is being done right here on earth. Data collected on an ice sheet in Greenland showed characteristics similar to the one on Europa. When researchers applied ice-penetrating radar, results showed the formation of a…
While the quality of the other entries into the “Blair Witch” franchise are debatable, the impact of the first film is not up for discussion. 2000’s “Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2” took a much more polished and meta approach to the story. This stylistic 180 elicited everything from praise to outright contempt from critics and movie goers alike. 2016’s reboot the “Blair Witch” even attempted to repeat the wildly successful marketing campaign of the original. Only this time instead of inventing a folk tale on message boards. This one was shot in secret. The Adam Wingard-directed film was originally…

Including its origin, production, and undeniable cultural impact. The museum says this will be via several screenings and other public events. “Over 11 seasons and 177 episodes, The…
In March, Netflix suspended its service in Russia in protest of the country’s unlawful and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. With this move, the streaming giant joined a growing list of western companies that have left since the start of Russia’s aggression. The law firm of Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners is now launching a class action suit against Netflix. This motion was filed with the Khamovnichesky district court of Moscow on behalf of subscribers. “The reason for the lawsuit was a violation of Russian users’ rights due to Netflix’s unilateral refusal to provide services in Russia,” the firm stated. They are…
