Netflix has green-lit a new supernatural mystery series, “The Boroughs.” The show will be produced by “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers. This new project was created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews  (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”). The pair will also serve as showrunners and executive producers. “The Boroughs” will be an eight-episode series set in a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert. Go team Venture! Adult Swim is finally giving us a taste of the “The Venture Bros.” movie they teased in 2021. Looks like we are getting another addition to the Anne Rice Cinematic Universe. AMC Networks has confirmed it is developing a third and fourth series based on Rice’s iconic literary world. The network is already housing tv series versions of “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches.” The first will focus on the Talamasca, or the Order of the Talamasca. It is a secret organization that researches, watches over, and documents the paranormal. Including things like witches, spirits, werewolves, and vampires. It looks like director Louis Leterrier (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistence,” “Transporter”) will be sticking with Dominic Toretto’s family. It has just been confirmed that he will be directing the next and final “Fast & Furious” film. Leterrier replaced director Justin Lin on the upcoming “Fast X” last May. Normally director substitutions, especially fast ones, are the kiss of death for a film. After 25 years, Netflix is shutting down its DVD-by-mail service. The company posted a FAQ and blog stating they would ship out the last DVDs on September 29th, 2023. The first DVD Netflix ever shipped was a copy of “Beetlejuice” in 1998. With James Gunn successfully jumping between Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise and Warner Bros. Pictures “Suicide Squad,” the upcoming DC Studios “Superman: Legacy,” and co-running the company with Peter Safran. Amazon has officially acquired writer/director Brian Otting’s (“Prom Car ’91”) script for “Never Too Old to Die.” Action icon Sylvester Stallone will star in the new action comedy. The film tells the story of a mysterious murderer living in a retirement home for spies. This snaps a Cold War hero back into action, as he makes it his personal mission to find the assassin among them. “Never Too Old to Die,” will be produced by both Stallone and Braden Aftergood of Balboa Productions. Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch” has cast newcomer Kahiau Machado as David Kawena. In the original animated film, Kawena is the older sister, Nani’s love interest and Lilo’s friend. Sydney Agudong (“Infamously in Love”) will play Nani, Maia Kealoha will play Lilo, and Zach Galifianakis will play a still undisclosed role.
