Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies.

The Goliath that is Netflix seems to have finally encountered it’s David, and they don’t know how to solve it or what’s caused it. Following a fairly disastrous first quarter’s earning report, the streaming giant is facing a future where a change in strategies is necessary. While CEO Reed Hastings has some ideas as to what he’d like to see, the path forward is not immediately clear. Netflix had some conservative expectations for the first quarter of 2022. There’s a story that has been told for many years involving a scorpion and a frog. The scorpion wants to cross the river and asks the frog if he can ride on his back. The frog refuses stating that the scorpion would just sting him and kill him. The scorpion counters back though, but if I did that while we were in the water, I would drown and we’d both die. The history of films based on video games is not a very happy or profitable one. Despite Hollywood’s many attempts to capitalize on the potential of this crossover market, it has miserably failed more often than not. For every success like the first “Mortal Kombat,” you have three times as many failures including “Mortal Kombat: Annihilation,” “Monster Hunter,” and “Max Payne.” The last few years though have seen a bump up in success though, thanks to “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu,” “Rampage,” and “Sonic the Hedgehog” along with its sequel. So, in Hollywood, why not keep tapping that well with more and…
