Author: Austin Barnett

Austin Barnett was born and raised in Mount Sterling, Kentucky where he spent his teenage years getting lost in the world of video games, comics and fantasy novels. As an adult Austin moved with his lovely wife to the hills of eastern Kentucky, where he still tends to get lost in the same worlds he did as a teen. In his free time Austin likes to attend Comic Conventions and work on his novel he will probably never finish.

Comic Books are as popular as ever in the world we live in today. The most popular of these comic book companies, of course, are DC and Marvel. Both companies catch a lot of headlines due to their movie and television universes adapting. Some of their most popular characters from comics panel to live action movies. A comic book company, I believe, that deserves more attention is Image Comics. Image comics may not have the film or television monopoly, but they make up for it in amazing titles. Here are a list of 5 of my favorite comic series published,…

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I believe that most fans come up with some amazing ideas from their favorite movies, video games or comic books. Fans are creating extraordinary movies, or short stories, that introduce us to new versions of a certain character or world we have all grown to love. This is a list of some of our favorite fan made films on the internet that are just as good or perhaps even better than the source material. The Walking Dead has cast Season Nines main villain, Alpha, who will be played by actress Samantha Morton. It comes to no surprise that they go ahead and cast her right hand man, Beta. Ryan Hurst, known mostly for his portrayal as Opie on Sons of Anarchy, has been cast as the titular character, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. In the comics, the character of Beta is a large man and all around brute force of nature. What he lacks in dialogue, he makes up with his brutal and physical presence as well as his overwhelming loyalty to his leader Alpha.…

It’s a funny thing seeing how much Nerd Culture has changed over the years. When I grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s, I felt like I had to mask my true self. I had to hide my interest in comic books, pokemon, Dungeons and Dragons, and superheroes. In order to fit in, I put on another persona of a jock; playing Varsity football in high school, going to parties, being a “cool” kid. I used the word “cool” very lightly. All the while, I would sneak off on the weekends to Comic Conventions, Magic Card games, etc.…

The world of Jason Bourne is now coming to the small screen as the USA Network has ordered it’s spinoff, titled Treadstone. The series will be written and executive produced by Tom Kring (Heroes), with Ramin Bahrani, director of HBO’s Farenheit 451, to call the shots on the pilot episode. Jason Bourne is widely associated with actor Matt Damon, who has played the lethal super agent/ anti-hero in four movies and has not ruled out a fifth movie yet. The Treadstone series will not expand upon the character of Jason, but instead will expand this universe in many ways. Perhaps building off what…

It looks as if Warner Bros. is at it again with enlisting A-List talent for their DC movie universe. As reported by Comicbook.com, Tom Cruise is in talks to star in the new Green Lantern Corps movie. Cruise has been tied to casting rumors since early March, after the report of Christopher McQuarrie, a frequent collaborator with Tom Cruise. After the failed Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds, it is heartwarming to see that DC is taking extra care this time around. DC is working patiently with the script and it seems they are willing to spend some money to make…

Zack Snyder has confirmed that the Robin killed by the Joker, in his version of the DCEU, wasn’t Jason Todd. A new rumor is making its rounds on the internet stating that Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the Joker origin will be much…..much… different than anything ever done before. As reported by Following the Nerd, the Nerd Rage Podcast has claimed to have seen proof of this off the wall transformation of the Clown Prince of Crime. Take what is said next with a grain of salt as this is really just an unconfirmed rumor for now, with little to no evidence, to back the claim up. In the Todd Philips take on the character The Joker, before his complete transformation, is…
