Toymaker NECA is releasing an exclusive figure for San Diego Comic-Con 2022 (SDCC) based on the upcoming “The Munsters” film. The announcement came via NECA and Rob Zombie‘s official social media accounts. NECA’s figure is not one of the main cast members. Instead, it’s of a more obscure character. This exclusive will be Zombo, a character who only appeared in one episode of the original 1964 show.

If you don’t know Zombo, he was a TV personality in the vein of Svengoolie or Vampira. In the olden days, such hosts would play cheap horror movies in the afternoon or late at night. Eddie Munster watched Zombo all the time and got a chance to meet him. The actual event went poorly when Eddie discovered that Zombo was just an act. Eddie would end up unmasking the actor underneath the make up on live TV.

The concept of a 1960s TV horror movie host is no doubt something that Rob Zombie loved from the original show. Since the new movie is a faithful tribute to the show, Zombie probably jumped at the chance to use Zombo. Not only does it reflect a very specific moment of TV history, Zombo’s look breathes campy horror. Between the cheesy makeup and garish outfit, he looks like someone you would see at a Rob Zombie concert. He also has an innocence to his look that makes him more funny than scary.

Don’t expect this figure to be easy to get. Collectors will be jumping at the chance to have something both high quality and super obscure. If you are into the original or rebooted “The Munsters,” or just love Rob Zombie’s kitsch horror vibe, you better get to SDCC.

Zombie’s upcoming “The Munsters” movie is due out sometime in 2022. Check out the teaser:
