This Cat In The Hat Costume is Nightmare Fuel – Viewers Be Advised

The Cat in the Hat has long been a children’s staple book. I don’t think there was a kid alive that didn’t know who he was when I was little. Between the cartoon and the later film that starred Mike Myers you’d know him in some form. And there were also elementary school teachers that went full Dr. Seuss with their classrooms. Anyway all this to say that when you think of The Cat in the Hat you think of a wholesome story about a couple of bored kids on a rainy day. You definitely don’t think that he’d be a nightmare monster who wants to eat your hear. Unless your first introduction to the character happens to be this costume on

The costume is exactly that, the Mike Myer’s costume that he wore on set of The Cat in the Hat film in 2003. I honestly forgot how crusty he looked in that movie. And I suppose it was easier to wear this suit than put on and insane amount of make up every day. We recently talked about Jim Carrey needed CIA torture training just to put on The Grinch costume. It makes total sense that studios try to avoid heavy makeup like that movie. Mostly because it’s not only time consuming but very expensive.

If you’re interested in getting this costume which also happens to have Mike Myers written on the name tag (neat!) then this will be the auction to bid on. Currently it’s sitting at $12,000 and there have been 3 bids. They must REALLY like Dr. Seuss. Or they want to wear something Mike Myer’s has had on. To which I say, his Austin Powers costume would be much preferred to this one. And of course you could also book performances at elementary schools and scare the pants off them. Because I think that’s probably what I would do if I owned this. Or every time my kids were bad I would put the suit on and have talks with them. Mostly because I’d think it was hilarious, and they’d have a memory of how weird mom is.
