Google Stadia Is Free For Two Months With A Gmail Account

Google has announced that it’s gaming service Google Stadia is now going to be free for the next 2 months. It’s going to be free in all 14 countries where game streaming is supported, all you’re going to need is a Gmail account to sign up on the stadia website. With the free tier set up you’ll have access to 1080p/60FPS with stereo surround sound. But there is a catch with signing up with the free tier. It’ll automatically enroll with another two free months and they can choose to continue it with $9.99 USD a month. But you can choose to opt out of that when it is finished.

If you do decide to upgrade to the pro tier you’ll have access to a list of games they have in the stadia library. These are the list of the games you’ll be able to play with the pro tier.

    • Destiny 2: The Collection
    • GRID
    • Gylt
    • SteamWorld Dig 2
    • SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech
    • Serious Sam Collection
    • Spitlings
    • Stacks on Stacks (on Stacks)
    • Thumper

With the upgrade tier as well you’ll be able to play your games at 4k with 60FPS, but due to current world events google has announced that everyone will be at 1080p. VP and GM Phil Harrison .

“To reduce load on the internet further, we’re working toward a temporary feature that changes the default screen resolution from 4k to 1080p,”he continued on. “With increased demand due to more people at home during this time, we’re taking a responsible approach to internet traffic… The vast majority of people on a desktop or laptop won’t notice a significant drop in gameplay quality, but you can choose your data usage options in the Stadia app.”

Google Stadias main lure to get people to buy it was cloud gaming. That would allow you to play any game from their library on just about everything: your PC, TV, Phone, etc. As long as it had a port to connect your google chrome and/or internet access you could play just about anything. But google failed to meet the standards they set for themselves and it hurt them as well as their own sales. So maybe this is a move to try to get people in and pay for stadia.
