Peccadillo Pictures has officially picked up the film Chatlines for theatrical distribution in the UK. The queer sci-fi film is co-directed by Neil Ely and Lloyd Eyre-Morgan (Departures), from a script by Eyre-Morgan. It stars Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley), Nico Mirallegro (My Mad Fat Diary), and Eyre-Morgan.

Chatlines tells the story of Jordan (Eyre-Morgan), a man in his 30s with terminal cancer, living in the not-too-distant-future of 2027. While the morphine keeps him pretty knocked out, he does pass the time when he is conscious online, eventually deciding to use a Chatroulette-style app. There, he meets Danny (Mirallegro), a sarcastic, vibrant guy who is also terminally ill but stuck in 2005. Despite the time gap, they build a deep connection over shared fears and regrets as they face death. Each of them finds some solace in this unlikely friendship.
The cast also includes Laura Aikman and Faye McKeever, with Paul Mortlock producing.
Chatlines is expected to have a wider release sometime next year. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they develop.
