WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon has been placed on medical leave “until further notice.” This announcement came as WWE filed their Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) report on August 2nd. Though McMahon is going on leave with no end date specified, he will still maintain his position. The SEC report includes a footnote pertaining to a federal grand jury subpoenaing McMahon on July 17th. A search warrant was also executed by federal agents on the same day. No charges have been brought up in either investigation. Many speculate that these searches are tied to the ongoing government investigation of McMahon’s…

Despite the recent OceanGate tragedy, co-founder Guillermo Söhnlein is determined to send people on yet another mission. Söhnlein is undeterred in his mission to send 1,000 people to live on the second planet in our solar system– Venus. This audacious space mission is looking at launching by 2050. Söhnlein has wanted to see humanity living on several planets since he was 11, and had reoccurring dreams about colonizing Mars. Tuesday, August 1st marks the first supermoon of the month. A second one will come at the end of the month on the 30th. (This makes supermoon #2 a blue moon!) The last time we had two in the same month was August 2018. According to Italian astronomer Gianluca Masi, founder of the Virtual Telescope Project, this phenomenon will not happen again until 2037. The classification of Supermoon is given when the Full Moon is considerably closer to Earth, making the moon appear larger. The moon rising in the southeast this Tuesday will be just 222,159 miles (357,530 kilometers) away,…
Twitter’s newly-rebranded X headquarters new, bright sign has been removed. The sign was installed July 29th, reportedly without proper permits. The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection said they received 24 complaints over the weekend regarding the sign. The complaints all share the same concerns over structural safety, and strobing illumination. Elon Musk’s rebranding plan included changing signage on the building. He also failed to get the proper permits needed to make changes to the headquarters building. The city of San Francisco launched an investigation into the giant X installed on the downtown building, finding no permits. The rebrand is…
Tim Lapetino might be the luckiest “Tron” fan in the world. He found an ultra rare “Discs of Tron” arcade cabinet on the Chicago suburbs streets. Lapetino is a huge fan of the franchise, and has been since he was a child. He had been searching for “Discs of Tron,” as it mostly vanished after it was released in 1983. While he never did find it in arcades during his childhood, he did eventually play as an adult in a museum. Lapetino found the arcade cabinet in May while driving around the Chicago Suburbs. The game was sitting on a…
“Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions” is officially delayed, as at least seven contestants have refused to cross WGA picket lines. 13-time show winner Ray Lalonde was the first to speak out against filming as a supporter of the ongoing strike. Rumors of producers recycling old material to film the season becoming credible helped strengthen Lalonde’s choice. “Jeopardy!” has already been viewed in a negative light for undermining the WGA. Show host, Ken Jennings crossed the picket line to finish taping the final episodes of season 39. This came after co-host Mayim Bialik refused to do the tapings herself. Since Lalonde chose…

“The Shark Is Broken” is a Broadway play documenting the technical issues that came with making “Jaws.” Many fans of the 1975 hit movie know about production issues and the animatronic shark, Bruce, malfunctioning. The play was co-written by Joseph Nixon and Ian Shaw, son of “Jaws” star Robert Shaw. Shaw is joined by Colin Donnell (“Arrow”) and Alex Brightman (“Beetlejuice: The Musical”) as Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss, respectively. You’ll note those are the actor’s names, not the characters they played in the film. This is because the play offers a unique perspective- telling the making of and behind…
