Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Just this morning, Paul W. S. Anderson’s next video game adaptation film “Monster Hunter” released their full-length trailer. Based on the CAPCOM title first released in 2004 for PS2, this take stars Milla Jovovoich as Captain Artemis, and has some big-ass weapons for you purists. Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is…

As we assumed would happen, one of the few remaining in-person events still scheduled to be happening in 2020 has made the difficult decision to shift to 2021. We’re speaking this time of the annual Creation Official Star Trek Convention that transports to Las Vegas.Creation’s Official Star Trek Convention was scheduled for December 9th-13th, 2020 at the Rio in Vegas, but has now been rebranded, and rescheduled to August 11th-15th, 2021 (still at the Rio). The announcement is an interesting one, which reveals that next year’s event will no longer be sporting the official “Star Trek” title. We are renaming…

We love sandworms around here- no matter if they’re from Arrakis, The Netherworld, or your basic graboid variety. Thankfully there’s no shortage of “Tremors” films for aficionados to get their giant destructive worm fix, and with a 7th installment on the horizon, no sign of them going away anytime soon. Just a little while ago, Universal Pictures released an official documentary about the franchise which is celebrating 30 years, and we absolutely needed to see Kevin Bacon wax poetic about the series of movies. (But also, when did he turn into Gary Oldman?) You can see the “Tremors: Making Perfection”…

HELLO THERE. It’s finally happened- someone has figured out how to create a real, working lightsaber. The Hacksmith (James Hobson), who is notorious (in a good way) for his incredible builds is responsible for this plasma blade that burns at about 4000* Fahrenheit. You’ve GOT to watch his new video detailing the process. And yes, he can change the blade’s color!

We are so pleased to report that Anya Taylor Joy has officially been tapped to take on the role of Furiosa in the upcoming George Miller-directed “Mad Max” spinoff. If you’ll recall, there’s been chatter about a Furiosa stand-alone film for awhile now, reportedly focusing on a young version of the future Imperator. This would mean, by the nature of the project, that Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron would not be returning for this project. That doesn’t mean we won’t ever see Theron back as Furiosa, but it more than likely won’t be in this film. (Although we still think…

Okay first and foremost, DON’T do what this Canadian woman did. Yes we know that Dr. Jones said “it belongs in a museum,” but it really, really does not. Especially when the object in question is probably cursed, and from the world heritage site of Pompeii. That out of the way- we ARE very glad to hear that the woman in question has since returned the items she illegally took home from Italy back in 2005. According to The Guardian, “Nicole” sent a package with the stolen ‘fragments’ (probably pottery, walls, tiles) to a travel agent in southern Italy along…

We absolutely still love the Brendan Fraser version of “The Mummy.” What’s not to love? Great jokes, a gorgeous cast, and visual effects that….well, maybe let’s not talk about those. BUT, what about that absolutely beautiful prop of Evie’s, The Book of the Dead?Thankfully cosplayer JediManda (who just completed a pretty great Evie cosplay, we might add) decided to share her experience making this prop in a Youtube tutorial for other budding librarians who want to prove those Bembridge scholars wrong. You can watch JediManda’s Book of the Dead build video on her Youtube channel here. And, maybe pick up…
