We are so pleased to report one of our favorite people is developing classic “Swiss Family Robinson” for Disney+- Ronald D. Moore! RDM is teaming up with director Jon M. Chu to reimagine this classic adventure and survival tale for the streaming service. Johann David Wyss wrote the original novel in 1812. The iconic Disney live action film was released in 1960.Not a lot is known about this project yet, but you can bet we’re gonna reach out to Moore and see what he can say about it.

THIS JUST IN-An Ahsoka Tano spinoff series starring Rosario Dawson is happening at Disney+, as well as “Rangers of the New Republic” live-action series. Announced/confirmed today during Disney Investor Day during the FX portion, a long-anticipated science fiction legacy project is indeed happening. Noah Hawley, creator of “Fargo” the tv series as well as “Legion” (both for FX), is currently working on a tv project based on Ridley Scott’s seminal work, “Alien.”John Landgraf, FX Chief, confirmed the news during the live stream. As we’re waiting for all the Disney Investor Day news about “Star Wars” and Marvel Studios to drop, the House of Mouse was also peppering their live stream with some great tidbits of info. Like the news that “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the Hulu series based on Margaret Atwood’s seminal work, has just been ordered for a 5th season. Disney also announced that “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is picked up for another 5 seasons, breaking a previous record for most seasons of a scripted live-action comedy series. Disney announced that several of their intended for theatrical release films are going to become Disney+ content, with the purchase options. They also confirmed 10 “Star Wars,” 10 Marvel Studios live action projects, 15 Walt Disney, and 15 Pixar projects will also be coming to the streaming service. We’re expecting some updates on what those projects are going to be during the later portion of the presentation.
