Earlier this morning, some of the main cast for the upcoming audio movie (think classic radio drama) based on Wendy and Richard Pini’s ElfQuest was confirmed. Earlier this morning, Netflix revealed the rest of the cast for their upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal graphic novel, “The Sandman.” We’ve known about some of the main players for some time, but today’s report answered some hotly anticipated news. We’re kind of surprised this deal went through, honestly, but when Jeff Bezos wants something, boyhowdy he gets it within 2 days. The entertainment world is a buzz with morning with the report that Amazon has successfully made their offer to purchase MGM and it’s holdings for $8.45 billion. Originally, the price we were hearing was a cool $9 billion, so obviously this order had Prime. Amazon currently has an estimated market cap of $1.7 trillion. We can’t stop laughing over here at Nerdbot headquarters. For some reason, Heavy Metal had to release an official statement regarding clothing. Specifically, of Taarna the Tarakian, one of their longstanding iconic characters.The recent run of Taarna comics have been fabulous, and you should absolutely read them. We are so very sorry to report that Samuel E. Wright, voice of Sebastian from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” has passed away. The iconic crooner also starred in “The Lion King” on Broadway in the original run as Muufasa. The role garnered Wright a Tony Award nomination. This is an absolutely lovely interview with Wright. And of course, the iconic Sebastian tune “Under The Sea” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” Wright’s hometown of Montgomery, NY posted a lovely tribute to him this morning on their Facebook page.  We love mornings with new trailers! This is one of those films we’ve been super curious about, and are so excited for the trailer. Blumhouse continues to churn out films, with or without female directors. Next up for the studio is a reboot of Stephen King’s “Firestarter.” The last time we saw “Firestarter,” it was the original 1984 film starring Drew Barrymore as Charlene “Charlie” McGee.This morning, Blumhouse posted a set video featuring a stunt performer calmly aflame, walking towards camera. Zac Efron has been tapped to play Charlie’s father, Andy McGee. Michael Greyeyes will star as Rainbird. We are very pleased to share the first official trailer for Studio Canal’s upcoming action thriller “Gunpowder Milkshake.” Three generations of female assassins fight to stop a vicious cycle of violence that has haunted their lives. Sometimes, a network feels the need to rework an already-shot pilot. This is nothing new, really, as it happens often enough. That said, pretty much directly after set photos of The CW’s live-action “Powerpuff Girls” series “Powerpuff” made their way online, a redo of the pilot was ordered. We don’t really know the official reason why. News of this decision was sort of buried deep in a The Hollywood Reporter piece. After quite a while with no information, we’ve got a hellish scoop to share about that “Hellraiser” reboot. Yes, we know, reboots generally fall into 2 categories- ones we’re mostly ok with, and ones we absolutely do not want redone.
