Sir Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” First Trailer Hits

The first trailer for Sir Ridley Scott‘s upcoming film “The Last Duel” is here, and we’re not sure what we think. True, there is something poetic about Scott bookending his filmmaking career with this flick, as his first was “The Duelists.” (That’s not to say he’s done making movies after this one, it’s just an observation.)

“The Last Duel” is based on a true story that took place in 14th-century France.  Jean de Carrouges, a knight, and his squire Jacques Le Gris, are ordered to fight to the death after Carrouges accuses Le Gris of raping his wife. In this film, de Carrouges will be played by Matt Damon, his wife by Jodie Comer, Le Gris by Adam Driver, and Count Pierre d’Alençon (who orders the duel) by Ben Affleck.

The strange thing here is that no one in the trailer, other than Comer, has an appropriate accent. Kinda a weird choice for a VERY period piece.

“The Last Duel” currently has a release date of October 21st, 2021 from 20th Century Studios. Check out the trailer:

Though she be but little, she is fierce.
