In 1985, the punk band Dead Kennedys demanded “MTV Get Off The Air.” In 2023, at least one part of MTV has done so- their news segments. Actor Shemar Moore has taken to Instagram to voice his disappointment with CBS for canceling “S.W.A.T..” Moore has starred as LAPD Sargent Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson on the series since it premiered in November 2017. The show is an updated version of a 1970s procedural drama of the same name. CBS announced on May 5th that season 6, which ends on May 19th, will be the end of the series. Letters sent to showrunners, from MAX (formally HBO Max), owned by Warner Bros. Discovery., and ABC Signature (owned by Disney), were leaked to the press and public last week. These letters demanded showrunners/writer-producers continue to perform non-writing duties despite the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA). Some of those duties directly violate the guild’s own mandates.
