Sometimes your friendly neighborhood pizza shop is more than meets the eye. At least that is the case for one shop in North Hollywood that got busted for allegedly illegally cooking up THC concentrates.
“We’ve heard of secret ingredients, but this takes the pie,” the LAPD said. “It seems like criminals are getting more creative by the day. From faux vending machines to pizza-making trickery, we are well aware of these sneaky things, keeping our city safe one clever bust at a time. This super ‘pizza’ lab won’t be making any more deliveries!”

On June 20th, 15 pounds of heroin, a kilogram of fentanyl, and an assault rifle were sniffed out of a vending machine by a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office K9. Hence their faux vending machines comment.
According to LAPD Commanding Officer Lillian L. Carranza, the pizza shop was located at the 7300 block of Radford Avenue. Right next to a pet hospital that we certainly hope is actually a pet hospital.
The tweet is accompanied by images that show what looks like a functional commercial kitchen. While it even had stacks of generic pizza boxes apparently, they weren’t cooking pies. In comments, Carranza elaborated the facility was a “THC Honey Oil Extraction Lab.” Going on to explain, “The ones we see explode cause injuries, property damage and sometime death.”
Apparently, there were batches of THC honey oil in the boxes and on the cooling racks. Authorities have not said if anyone was arrested in connection with the illegal lab. While recreational marijuana has been legal in the state for anyone over 21 since 2016, production for things like concentrates is highly regulated by the state. Making it so not just anyone can create these products and why this alleged operation was illegal.
Not to mention selling THC laced products when you don’t also sell pizza is just a huge missed opportunity. Rule number one in business is know your customer.
