Filmmaker Ryan Coogler (“Black Panther”) wants to know what it sounds like when doves cry. He is attached to produce a currently untitled jukebox musical of Prince songs for Universal Pictures. This particular project, based on the late musician has been kicking around since 2018, with a script by Bryan Edward Hill (“Zone 414”). Producers for the project include Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Troy Carter of Atom Factory, and Universal Music Publishing Group chair Jody Gerson. Disney Channel’s series “Wizards of Waverly Place” ran from 2007 to 2012 and starred Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, and David DeLuise. It told the story of three young wizards trying to master their newfound powers under the tutelage of their father. During his stint as an unqualified educator, he convinces his class of 4th graders to form a rock band. For years, the rumor mill has been churning about the possibility of NBC continuing its hit series “The Office.” Showrunner Greg Daniels recently confirmed he is working on a new series based in the world of Dunder Mifflin. And now he is tapping “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman to help develop the project. Toronto-based filmmaker and TOTALLY NOT A NEPO BABY Caitlin Cronenberg will be making her directorial feature debut with the upcoming “Humane.” An eco-thriller starring Peter Gallagher, Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, and Enrico Colantoni, and written by Michael Sparaga. “Humane” will take place a few months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population. Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have been making waves with a slew of films adapting beloved children’s characters into blood-thirsty slashers. The biggest of these titles is “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”  which made $5.2 million, on a $50,000 budget.
