The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is getting a new writer at its helm. Gary Dauberman (Salem’s Lot) will be penning the third feature film in the franchise. The movies are based on the popular horror video game of the same name created by Scott Cawthon.
Cawthon co-wrote the first installment with Seth Cuddeback and director Emma Tammi, and handled the script for the second film solo.
The first film adaptation hit theaters in 2023 while simultaneously debuting on Peacock. It stars Josh Hutcherson (The Beekeeper), Elizabeth Lail (You), Piper Rubio (For All Mankind), and Matthew Lillard (Scream). And tells the story of Mike (Hutcherson), a security guard with a troubled past who agrees to take an overnight job at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Only to discover that the restaurant’s animatronic mascots become bloodthirsty once the sun sets.
It spawned a follow-up film in 2025 with the aforementioned cast all reprising their roles. It takes place one year after the events of the first movie. We see Mike and his family have to do battle with a whole new wave of killer animatronics.
Like past installments, Blumhouse Atomic Monster will be backing the upcoming movie.
