I am still waiting for that blue police box to take me on a star trek to a galaxy far, far away. Until then I will have to content myself with fantasy and sci-fi adventures from books, movies, and TV shows.

Avengers: Endgame advance tickets have been available since April 2 and the figures for that first week of sales are staggering. The demand for tickets was so great it overwhelmed a number of sales sites and the movie set the record for first day pre-sales in its first 6 hours. Endgame holds Fandango’s records for both first day and first week of pre-sales, beating out Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The number of Endgame tickets was 5 times the number sold for Infinity War, and Infinity War went on to gross over $2 billion dollars. Atom tickets has said that…

Black Widow and The Eternals are some of the movies being talked about in Marvel’s phase IV MCU. The Eternals are a near-immortal offshoot of the evolutionary process that use their powers to champion humanity against the Deviants. Both races were created by the Celestials experimenting on humans. And it should be noted that the Purple Party Pooper Thanos is a mutant member of the Titan Eternals. Recent news had Angelina Jolie attached to The Eternals film in the role of Sersi. Now there is a rumor that Kumail Nanjiani is also in talks to star in The Eternals. There…

Knowing it was directed by Tim Burton and having read some of the reviews, I knew going in that the live-action Dumbo would differ from the animated 1941 classic. As you might expect from Tim Burton the film has a dark side and a few scary action scenes but nothing that seemed too intense for the young members of the audience in my viewing. Visually the movie is quite impressive in the sets and costumes as well as the flying elephant. The main drawback of the film is in the narrative. Dumbo becomes more of a plot device than the…

Cats the movie is based on a play of the same name, which was based on Old Possums Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. The play won 7 Tony Awards and is one of the longest-running plays on Broadway. The play and movie feature a bunch of, well, cats (a particular tribe called the Jellicles) and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The film is directed by Tom Hooper (Les Miserables) and features an all-star cast. And that cast will apparently be cat-sized in the movie. The info on the cat-sized cast comes from CinemaCon. Principal photography on the movie…

Captain Marvel has passed the $1 billion global box office mark after less than a month in theaters. It is the 7th MCU movie to surpass that mark. Aquaman also joined the over $1 billion club during its theatrical run, but Captain Marvel surpassed Wonder Woman’s total ($821.8 million) in just 2 weeks. Captain Marvel had a worldwide opening of $456.7 million, which is the current 6th biggest of all time. It…

Don Rickles seemed the perfect casting as Mr. Potato Head when he voiced the character so memorably in the first three Toy Story movies. But the actor’s passing in 2017 left questions about how our beloved spud would be portrayed in Toy Story 4. Director Josh Cooley confirmed on Twitter that Rickles voice would be used saying, “All of his pieces may be replaceable, but his voice is not. Honored he signed on for TS4, honored he’s in TS4.” Rickles had supposedly not yet done any voice work for the new film, and the story for Toy Story 4 has…

Seems like Ant-Man and Hawkeye have been the butt of a lot of Endgame hype. Both sat out Infinity War, supposedly on house arrest at the time. Ant-Man at least got his own movie. Hawkeye was just MIA. Now with Endgame drawing closer, Ant-Man has gotten a bit of the spotlight with a bunch of memes touting him as the possible hero of the film when he takes down Thanos in the end. Literally. When he flies up Thanos’ butt and then expands to giant size. Ouchies. That certainly seems like down and dirty tactics. The memes have become so…

Avengers: Endgame is coming next month and it looks like the movie may set a record for opening weekend box office. Endgame is due to open in China on April 24 and then domestically on April 26, so the China box office will be included for the movie’s opening. The current box office opening record is held by Avengers: Infinity War with $640.4 million dollars; however, that did not include China. Other worldwide records set by Infinity War were the fastest movie to gross $1 billion and $1.5 billion (previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and the highest…
