Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies. Since 2016 he's run his own YouTube channel under the moniker of The Critical Android where he livestreams video games and uploads podcasts about pop culture and Frasier.

Longtime readers of Nerdbot know that we have a predilection for “Frasier” here. I myself run a podcast about the 1993 beloved sitcom for about 5 years now. We’ve also taken nearly every opportunity to discuss anything and everything “Frasier” or Kelsey Grammer related. That being said, I did not expect to be writing an article about a convicted Australian murderer allegedly stating she was inspired by the show in order to kill her wealthy partner. Convicted murderer Natasha Beth Darcy was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Monday, February 21st, 2022 for killing Matthew Dunbar in 2017. Darcy…

The Billboard Hot 100 chart is weird. For years, unless something was technically released as a single, it wasn’t eligible for the charts. This rule means countless songs were played countless times, but never charted anywhere. Or, because of divisions between genres, some popular songs were counted on a rock or country chart without being considered on the Hot 100. In order to be considered a hit, a song has to eventually end up in the top 40 of this list; something that was popularized decades ago with the “American Top 40” countdown radio program. This has led to some…

In 2005 one of the most underrated films of the last 20 years was released entitled “Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang.” Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer, this neo-noir buddy-detectives Christmas movie went very much under the radar. It also contained some of the tightest and funniest banter you’ll ever see. This is unsurprising though if you know the writer/director Shane Black, and that he’d previously written “Lethal Weapon” and “The Last Boy Scout.” Giving that dialogue to Robert Downey Jr. though was a fantastic pairing, and it’s about to happen again thanks to Prime Video. From 1962 to 2008,…

The Billboard Hot 100 chart is a funny thing. The United States charts that measure a number one song have historically used a fluctuating system of combining the sales of a single and its airplay on the radio. Additionally, certain genres have been isolated to select stations, country, rock, R&B, etc, which can affect their overall airplay and popularity. The end result of this mess has been that a surprising number of popular artists that you would’ve swore hit number one, never actually did. Today we’re going to look at ten of them. Number 10: Alanis Morissette “Jagged Little Pill”…

Last week the world was treated to news that animated series “Futurama” is going to be revived by Hulu for a new 20-episode run. We were happy to share in the excitement, and even more excited to find out that most of the voice cast was returning. That being said, we also gave a collective “hmm” with the rest of the universe when Bender’s voice actor, John DiMaggio, was conspicuously missing from the cast list. It’s been roughly a week since the announcement, the actor behind the drunken robot with a salty attitude has opened up about his stance on…

First “Beavis and Butt-Head” did MTV, then they did America. Now, the titular duo are about to do Paramount+ and the universe itself! Yes, we finally have more details on the adventures of Mike Judge’s dopey duo and when the hijinks that they’re up to will ensue. After spending the last few years in production and following a hop from network TV to streaming platform, the boys are back to do whatever it is they’re doing in this current day and age. Last month there were conflicting stories about the proposed revival of “Beavis and Butt-Head” in terms of where…

Hudson, Ohio’s Mayor Craig Shubert seems to be a conservative caricature along the lines of the fictionalized version of Stephen Colbert ala “The Colbert Report.” This could be funny if it weren’t for the fact that he’s a real person, and the actual mayor of an actual city, where his decisions affect the lives of actual people. His official website lists his viewpoints on a number of issues, but does not have anything about ice fishing in public parks on it. Perhaps this is because he takes a hardline stance that apparently ice fishing leads to prostitution. Yes, really. Let’s…

Sometimes multiple crimes can be committed by people across different segments in life. In the case of Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, the pair were arrested for laundering bitcoin. But Morgan could also have been charged by society with murdering the very concept of rap music. Let’s be clear on something- allegedly laundering (what was at the time) $91 million following the hacking of a cryptocurrency exchange is bad enough. But you know what else is terrible? This “song.” What you’re seeing here is a reupload of the song “Versace Bedouin” by Razzlekhan, otherwise known as Heather Morgan. It is…
