Katee Sackhoff Talks Bo-Katan in “The Mandalorian”

If there’s one actor we adore in pretty much every single thing she does, it’s Katee Sackhoff. Most fans first became aware of her during the reimagined “Battlestar Galactica” series where she played Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, pilot and general badass. She’s appeared in numerous tv series and films, and voiced characters across video games, and animated series.

In fact, the character Sackhoff voiced in season 4 of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” cartoon, Bo-Katan Kryze, is now a part of the live-action galaxy far, far away as of last week’s Bryce Dallas Howard-directed episode of “The Mandalorian” on Disney+.

We were absolutely delighted to see Sackhoff bring her character to life alongside Pedro Pascal / Brendan Wayne, as well as her band of fellow Mandalorians.

“I had tears in my eyes this morning when I saw the first picture of her that somebody had tweeted,” Sackhoff told the official Star Wars website in a recent interview. “I lost my mind. She is such a perfect representation of who she was in Clone Wars and Rebels.  I must say, from the perspective of a little girl who used to pretend that she was every character in Star Wars, you know…my mind is blown.”

She even went so far as to elucidate a bit on just how willing Dave Filoni was to answer questions about the character, and her place within the “Star Wars” universe.

“From my experience with them and my experience in the industry, if you go and sit with a showrunner and ask questions, they’ll give you answers. It may not be specific answers, and it may not be directly what’s going to happen in the future. But if I go and sit down with Dave Filoni and we talk about the world of Star Wars and how it relates to Bo-Katan, he’ll tell me anything I want to know. It’s just a matter of asking the right questions and then seeing how it fits in a storyline. There are no guarantees moving forward for anyone in any series. Things change and you never know. My questions are never, ‘What’s my involvement in this?’, rather it’s ‘Let’s talk about Bo-Katan’.”

There have been no shortage of online rumors about a possible spinoff for Sackoff’s Bo-Katan, especially with how “The Heiress” episode ended. Perfect opening for a series!

“I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about; that’s legitimately the truth,” Sackhoff told multiple outlets about the rumor, that for whatever reason seems to include Gina Carano‘s character Cara Dune. [Seriously, just….no to any more Carano, please. BUT YES to all the Bo-Katan!]

    This is the way.

You can catch seasons 1 and 2 of “The Mandalorian,” only on Disney+.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
