“Justice League” Star Ray Fisher ‘Forcefully’ Takes Back Pro-Joss Whedon Stance

Maaaaan this is one of those times we think there’s another story behind the statement, but since we cannot begin to fathom what that might be, we’re here to tell you the facts.

Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in Warner Bros. Pictures big ol superhero teamup film “Justice League,” took to his Twitter to “strongly retract” his previous praise of director Joss Whedon.

If you’ll recall, Whedon was hand picked by “Justice League” director Zack Snyder to complete the film when Snyder left the project in May of 2017. His reasons for leaving where completely understandable, Zack and Deborah Snyder‘s daughter committed suicide, and we cannot imagine how difficult of a time that was for the family to navigate. (Snyder is a huge advocate for mental health and suicide prevention, raising money almost monthly for various organizations.)

Back at San Diego Comic Con in 2017, the cast of “Justice League” invaded Hall H, and gave fans the first look at the heroes coming to life on the big screen. Fisher had said some very nice things about Whedon taking over the film.

I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement: pic.twitter.com/1ECwwu6TG1

We don’t blame you at all, Ray. Whedon, as you’ll recall, is problematic for many reasons, not limited to this revelation from his ex wife, multiple reports from female colleagues of problematic behavior, and allegations of harassment (that were never legally proven, we will admit).

Fisher has now clarified what he meant with this tweet, which makes us want to ask “oh, you mean that thing women have been saying about Whedon for 20+ years? Yeah.”

Joss Wheadon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.

“Justice League,” the Snyder Cut, is coming to HBO Max sometime in 2021.
